Is your cast almost impossible to break? Are your curls still stiff and crunchy hours after drying? 🌀👀

Some guests love this because a hard cast means long-lasting definition.

BUT if you'd prefer a softer result, here's why it's happening: you're probably using too much hold product (and it's an easy fix).

Pro Tip: Try using half as much product, applied in the shower to very wet hair. Less product + wetter application = all the definition, none of the crunch.

On the back of almost every shampoo bottle is somewhere that says “Lather, rinse, repeat.”

That second "repeat" isn't filler. It's the most important step most people skip.

Your first shampoo loosens the buildup. Your second shampoo washes it away. Skip it and you're leaving behind exactly what you were trying to remove.

Pro Tip: Start with a clarifying shampoo first, then shampoo twice as usual. That's how you make sure your hair is truly ready to absorb everything that comes next.

Those few curls in the front that just won't behave…so what do you do?

You've tried everything. And eventually, you reach for the curling iron… I see you. I used to be that girl too.

Here's what's actually happening: the heat is damaging the curl structure itself. Every pass trains those pieces to stop curling on their own - so the frustration doesn't go away. It gets worse.

Here's how to love those heat-damaged pieces back to life:

✅ Get regular trims to remove the damage as it grows out

✅ Try an repair mask

✅ Finger coil those pieces before diffusing

Not using heat, and they are still pretty wonky? Try finger coiling when your hair is very wet (especially the root) and diffuse dry.

Pro Tip: Finger coiling the resistant curls before diffusing gives them the definition boost they need without any heat.

If getting your hair wet in the shower takes forever… your hair is trying to tell you something.

I had a new guest sit in my chair recently. When I went to wet his hair down, it barely took on any water. He mentioned the same thing happened when he jumped in the pool. It just sat on top.

That’s buildup.

Buildup coats the hair shaft and creates a barrier that water and product can’t get through. The fix? Clarify.

Think this: Clarifying shampoo cleans your hair. Regular shampoo cleans your scalp. One (or two) clarifying washes removes the barrier and your curls are finally ready to absorb all that hydration.

Pro Tip: If wetting your hair takes noticeably longer than usual, clarify first, then wash and condition as usual.
