Baby Chuda update: Chuda got to meet Dr. Wanda and all the girls at Weldy's today. She is a little spitfire, wiggling and vocal. Overall healthy and heart/lungs sound good. Her special paw is just a wait and see kind of situation. Lots of factors will affect what direction we will take in the future. Her ears aren't developing normally though. We will wait two more weeks for a follow up visit. They are closed off and have skin growth that isn't the norm. Have to watch them for infection the next two weeks and take it from there.
And on that note....this little girl might have a life filled with trips to the vet. No one knows what the future holds for her. We will be EXTREMELY SELECTIVE when we chose a forever home for her. Being Financially Comfortable is going to play a huge factor in this decision. Preference will be given to those who have experience with special needs dogs. The rest of our usual criteria will apply when adopting a puppy from us; Schedule, children in the home, other pets....they will all play a roll in choosing her forever home. (and willingness to being stalked by her MUSH family)
UPDATE: Ok guys....this situation with mama and pups is probably going to end up draining us. We have our calendar fundraiser, very few ordered compared the the comments on who wanted them. This fundraiser will help us tremendously. Also remember medical situations, let alone a puppy, can go from $500-$2000 in a heart beat. I was hoping the calendars would give us a cushion in our account for situations like this, but I fear this entire fundraiser may just go Juneau and Chuda. With that being said, this is my round about way of asking for help. Whether you want to donate directly (every little bit helps, I know its tough around the holidays), order your calendars, send us gas cards.... anything is greatly appreciated. Our fuel costs are usually neck in neck with our vet bills every month.

Many of you know we were contacted today about a mom and her pups. I wish I could bring better news. It's been a hard day here at MUSH. Battles between our heads and our hearts. We had no idea what we were walking into today....all of us are heartbroken. A mom stray was picked up a few days ago by an individual and had given birth over night. All the puppies have serious deformities. One of the puppies did not make it, we have named her Noelle. We have named mom Juneau "Goddess of Heaven". Pup #1 we named Eos "Goddess of Dawn" . We will have to say goodbye to this girl tomorrow. It was with great heartache that after speaking with the vets and weighing all the options, the chance at any quality of life for this girl minimal to say the least. Pup number 3 we named Kiche "Sky Spirit" . By far, the worst deformities and she would not make it through the night. After speaking with the vets we decided to save her any pain or discomfort and said good bye to her this afternoon. Pup number 2 we have named Chuda "Miracle". She is the most viable of the three. We will be taking xrays tomorrow to make sure her deformed limb is the only defect. Please pray for good xrays tomorrow. We will give this girl every fighting chance she can get.
Juneau is healthy, heartworm neg, and has a great personality according to the vets who handled her today. They think she is around 5 yrs old. She got a bit grumpy later in the day, but she has been through so much.
I can't even begin to explain how emotionally drained I am today. My heart hurts. I wish I had better news to bring you all....truly I do.
