I need to speak honestly about yesterday’s community event.

First and most importantly, I want to sincerely thank every person who came out and supported us. Whether you made a purchase, visited the vendors, brought your children to enjoy the activities, shared the event, or simply stopped by, your presence was noticed and genuinely appreciated. Your support meant more to us than you may realize.

Congratulations to everyone who received one of the free giveaways! We hope you enjoyed your gifts, and we appreciate you for participating and being part of the day.

People in LaPlace often say that there is nothing to do in our community and that we need more local activities for families. We hear those concerns, and we are genuinely trying to provide the experiences people say they want. Yesterday’s event included vendors, food, giveaways, services, and free fun for children—something families rarely receive at community events without having to pay for every activity.

However, these experiences cannot continue if the community does not show up.

A great deal of time, money, planning, preparation, and physical work goes into organizing an event. Vendors pack their vehicles, transport their products, arrange their displays, promote the event, and give up hours of their day with the hope that the community will come out and support them.

Unfortunately, yesterday’s turnout was extremely low. Again, we are truly grateful for everyone who came, but it was painful and frustrating to watch so many vendors sit for hours after investing so much effort into being there.

Supporting a community event does not mean that you must spend a lot of money. You can walk around, speak to the vendors, learn about their businesses, allow your children to enjoy the free activities, share photos from the event, or make a small purchase when possible. Simply showing up makes a difference.

We cannot continue saying that LaPlace has nothing to do while ignoring the people who are working hard to create something for us to do. If we want more family activities, vendor events, free children’s entertainment, and positive community experiences, then we must support them when they are offered.

To every vendor who participated yesterday: I sincerely apologize that the turnout did not reflect the time, effort, and trust you gave this event. Please know that your presence, professionalism, and participation were sincerely appreciated. Thank you for showing up, staying committed, and sharing your businesses with our community.

Yesterday was deeply discouraging, and it honestly makes me question whether I want to organize another event. This is not being shared to disrespect or shame anyone. It is a sincere request for our community to understand that local events cannot survive through online likes and complaints alone.

To everyone who supported us, thank you again. We genuinely appreciate you.

If we truly want more for LaPlace, we must be willing to show up and support the people who are trying to provide it.
