Be safe in the sun, even in the fall! Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to celebrate survivors and support every step of their recovery. After breast reconstruction, healing skin and scars need extra protection, and UV rays are still strong in the fall.
Here's how to care for your skin in the sun:
✅ Wear broad-spectrum SPF every day, even when it's cloudy.
✅ Choose UPF 50+ swimsuits that keep healing scars covered.
✅ Pick lighter swimwear colors over black and navy. Dark colors absorb heat, so lighter shades keep you cooler and more comfortable.
New scars are especially sensitive to sunlight, and protecting them helps prevent darkening and sunburn. And this month, the most important reminder of all: schedule your mammogram, do your monthly self-checks, and encourage the women you love to do the same. Early detection saves lives.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a cause I'm deeply passionate about because of the incredible women I care for every day. Every day I have the privilege of helping women through breast reconstruction, from implant-based reconstruction to fat grafting. My goal is always the same: to help each patient feel comfortable, cared for, and confident in her body again.
