Reflections from Dolores, Colorado 9/6/25

As I walked to the river, the wind said, “You can hear me.”

I sat and watched the wildflowers of milk thistle, the water run, and the birds circle the trees. I saw a leaf fall from a tree into the river. The message was so clear. They have no fear. They so easily let go, shed, and release without question. The tree drops its leaves, and the water carries them without resistance.

I sat with the sun on my face and my feet in the river. I looked over at Celia as she lay on a rock, and I truly saw how deeply we can be held by Mother Earth.

As the water cleansed me, I observed Mother Earth and her beautiful medicine all around me. The spider on the rock next to me. The hawks and the ravens flying above. Noticing how everything in nature supports one another.

The feeling of God came over me, and these words came to me.

God is the rock holding you on the side of the river. The sacred water that is flowing through your toes. The spider weaving its web on the river rocks near you, revealing herself only to you. The hawks and ravens soaring through the air. The sunshine on your face. The feelings inside you that words cannot explain.

It’s so crazy to think Celia Haney and I were dream weaving in the wild a year ago. Something in me changed this day, a deeper trust of Mother Earth, a clearer language with everything around me, a remembering of the seasons and how we mirror them and I’m forever holding this special trip in my heart ⛰️🩵✨
