A MONTH REFLECTION 🥂

As a hairstylist, I’ve learned that it’s okay to cut off clients who no longer align with me — and I’m not sorry for protecting my sanity.

I pay attention to energy, frequency, respect, and how I feel after every interaction. Not every client is meant to stay with you forever, and that’s okay.

I’m no longer overextending myself, ignoring my boundaries, or doing s**t that costs me my peace just to accommodate someone else.

I’m grateful for every person who sits in my chair,

🤎 Benefits of an all-over color

* Creates an even canvas: Great when the hair has multiple tones, faded color, uneven warmth, or old highlights that no longer blend together.
* Adds richness + depth: Brunettes especially can start looking washed out or hollow as previous color fades. An all-over color can bring back that chocolate, mocha, neutral, or dimensional richness.
* Controls unwanted warmth: Depending on the starting level, the right formula can soften excessive red, orange, or gold and create a more balanced result.
* Refreshes faded mids + ends: The roots may look great while the lengths have become dull or overly warm. A demi-permanent gloss/color refresh can bring everything back together.
* Can make hair look healthier: Adding tone and shine can make porous or faded hair appear smoother, shinier, and more polished.
* Lower-maintenance option: For someone who doesn’t want to continually lighten their hair, staying closer to their natural level can create softer grow-out and easier maintenance.

Why the client’s CURRENT hair matters

“All-over color” doesn’t mean one formula from roots to ends. That’s one of the biggest things to remember behind the chair.

For example, if someone has a natural level 4 root + level 7 warm mids + porous level 8 ends, putting the exact same formula everywhere can produce three different results.

You might instead formulate a root color/melt, a separate mid-length formula, and potentially a lighter or more diluted formula for porous ends.

That’s why you look at starting level + underlying pigment + previous color + porosity + desired level/tone before choosing the formula.
