Greetings Barbers,
As you are aware, it is Legislation time again in Nevada and once again we are back in it. This email is to inform everyone that S.B. 335 is trying to once again ABOLISH the Barber Board. Senator Joseph Hardy is the sponsor of the bill. The bill is available to read on to read on: https://www.leg.state.nv.us/ (If you are using a computer, you will need to copy the links into your web address bar or right click and hit open link in new tab. You can also open the attachment and links will be clickable).

What does abolishing the board mean? The Barber Board would be put under a “Division” that would be run by an agency, not appointed board members. The members of this agency will not be barbers. If you are against this you should call and email all Senate Committee Members (listed below) and Senator Joseph Hardy. Make your voices heard and let them know that you are against this bill. Senator Hardy’s email address is: [email protected] , his office phone number is 1-775-684-1462. Now is the time to act! The bill will heard on Thursday April 1, 2021 at 8:00am. Due to COVID there will be no in person testifying. If you wish to show your opposition, at the hearing (in addition to calling and emailing the Senate Committee Members) you can log on to https://www.leg.state.nv.us/ . Follow the instruction below:

- You will then give your opinion “In Favor” or “Against”
- Leave any additional comments in the comment box.

In addition to participating or submitting your opinion I STRONGLY urge everyone to call and voice your opinion to all Senate Committee on Commerce and Labor members, as well as Mr. Hardy’s office. Below is a list of all committee members. Again, you should call and email everyone on the list if you are in opposition. If you want to keep your Barber Board as it is today, with working members of our profession, now is the time to make your voice heard!! Having working board members insures that you have members of your profession standing up for you and fighting for what is right in our industry. DO NOT WAIT START CALLING RIGHT AWAY!

Will our fees be raised?
Will our industry standards and integrity be lowered?
Is this the next step to deregulation?
Do you want to be regulated by individuals that know nothing about your industry?
You should CALL, EMAIL, FILL OUT “SHARE YOUR OPINION” and PARTICIPATE (if possible). The more we get our voices heard the better chance we have of keeping our board! YOU MUST ACT NOW, Let these legislators know how you feel!!! If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Board Office.
