Essential. It’s the word of 2020.

We could all fight over what essential actually means but my feeling is this: hair is not, or will ever be essential. It does not maintain health or home. It is a luxury.

Having luxury taken from you sucks. Hard. Especially when you think of it as necessary.

In this weird shift of Phase 1 (or whatever the hell we are calling it) I’m thankful that our little luxuries are coming back and I get to be part of your days again.

And more than anything I’m thankful for clients like Angie who are actually essential, front line workers. She’s put in extra hours to help sick and scared patients get the meds they need. She’s tired but healthy. She’s the real MVP.

Does all this talk about “new normal” make you think normal never really existed?

Masks aren’t something we are used to. But COVID made a lot of things I’m not used to normal. Like neighborhood walks, taking time to pack lunches, FaceTiming grandma.

Maybe “new normal” came along just to shake us up. To make us take stock of our lives. To make us grateful for hugs and friendly smiles.

“New normal” won’t be forever but I hope the life lessons it brought us will always be around.

Forever grateful that I get to hang out with some of the best women in Las Vegas: CEO’s and SAHM’s, Surgeons, Nurses, Attorneys, Teachers, Consultants, PR pros and Graphic Design geniuses...my clients are well rounded and diverse but all have in common that they are amazing people that inspire me daily (and they are walking around with some of the best hair in Vegas 💁🏻‍♀️).

I’m all about self care Sunday. Or self care everyday.

I’m a mama of two. And most of my clients are also moms. We all have one sad thing in common: mom guilt.

Wether it’s time away from our kids, spending money on ourselves or just “being selfish” that awful voice will creep in and tell you you don’t deserve “me time.”

Self care. It’s the buzziest of buzz words. But what does it actually mean FOR YOU?

For me, it’s waking up early enough to not rush out the door. It’s spending time on my yoga mat. It’s connecting with friends. It’s a glass of wine on date night. It’s doing things to make sure I like what I see in the mirror.

That last one is where my job aligns with my purpose. I’m grateful that I get to be part of another woman’s self care. To help her see the beauty that she’s always had.
