Stella.Komi Hair
Komi Hair Salon came to life with a passion to deliver a personalized luxury salon experience. We want the hair of your dreams to become your reality.
Here at Komi, our stylists are curious and passionate about all things beautiful.
I don’t think stylists stopped wanting education.
I think they stopped trusting it.
And honestly… I get why.
We’ve all seen people spend thousands on a class, take days off the floor, leave feeling inspired… and then get home, try it on a real client, and realize they still have so many questions and nobody to ask.
That’s not always the stylist failing.
Sometimes the education failed them.
And I think that’s created a bigger trust problem in our industry, where even really good educators are struggling to fill rooms because stylists don’t know who to trust anymore.
But there are two sides to it.
Educators have a responsibility to actually teach, give support, give feedback, create resources, and help students implement what they learned.
And stylists have a responsibility too.
Practice.
Ask questions.
Send in your work.
Ask for feedback.
Go back through the material.
Actually use the support that’s there.
Education works best when both sides show up.
And I’m bringing this up because I have my Hidden Bead class coming up in Charleston October 25–26.
I’m going to be transparent… filling this class has been harder than I expected, and I understand why people are hesitant to make another big investment.
So if you’ve been watching this class but you’re nervous, message me.
Ask me the questions.
Ask me what happens after class.
Ask me what the support looks like.
I’m an open book… and I’ll tell you honestly if I think you’re ready for it or not. 💛

I don’t think stylists stopped wanting education.
I think they stopped trusting it.
And honestly… I get why.
We’ve all watched people spend thousands on a class, take days off the floor, leave feeling SO inspired… and then three weeks later they’re standing behind a real client with 15 new questions and nobody to ask.
That’s the part I think our industry has normalized way too much.
And it doesn’t just hurt the stylist.
It hurts the genuinely GOOD educators too.
Because now every class has to overcome the bad taste left behind by the last one.
Being amazing at hair and being amazing at teaching hair are two completely different skills.
A big following doesn’t automatically make someone an educator.
A viral technique doesn’t automatically mean someone knows how to teach you how to troubleshoot it.
And a certificate doesn’t mean much if you still don’t feel confident when you get home.
But I also think there are two sides to this.
An educator has a responsibility to give you the tools, support, feedback, and resources to actually implement what you learned.
But as a stylist, you also have a responsibility to DO something with it.
Practice it.
Ask the questions.
Send the photos.
Ask for feedback.
Go back through the material.
Be willing to hear what needs to improve.
Actually use the support that’s available to you.
Education isn’t something that gets done to you.
The best educator in the world can give you everything they have… but you still have to meet them halfway.
If we want education in this industry to get better, I think both sides have to show up.
Educators have to earn the trust.
And stylists have to do the work. 💛
Curious… what makes a class actually worth the investment to you?

Let me put real numbers on this because, in my opinion, education should give you an ROI.
An extension install in my salon runs $1,200–$2,500.
Move-ups run $150–$350, and she’s typically back every 6–8 weeks.
Even using the conservative end of those numbers…
One install + seven move-ups = roughly $2,300 in year one from ONE client.
Ten extension clients?
Roughly $23,000 a year.
That isn’t rebuilding your entire business. That’s ten people.
And most stylists I meet are underpricing extensions by a LOT.
Not because they aren’t talented.
Because nobody ever taught them how to actually price a service that includes hair cost, time, customization, maintenance + profit.
If your extension pricing is based on what somebody else charges… or pricing your work makes you nervous… come to class.
I’ll help you build an extension business you actually understand, can price properly + are proud of. 💛

Beautiful everywhere except the corners.
She comes back at week three, one corner’s slipped or it’s peeking when she puts her hair up, and you go looking for what you did wrong.
Here’s the thing. You probably didn’t do anything wrong. You did one right thing to everybody.
Most of us were taught a single corner placement. And it works beautifully on about half your clients, which is exactly why it’s so hard to catch… half the time it’s fine.
Before you place that start or end bead, run this:
1. Where does her stronger hair actually begin
2. Where does her density increase
3. Which direction is her growth pattern moving
4. How does she wear her hair up
Those four answers decide three things: where the bead sits, how big the section is, and how close you can safely get to the perimeter.
Not one of them is the same on every client. So the placement shouldn’t be either.
If nobody ever taught you to run that check, that isn’t a skill gap. It’s a training gap, and there’s a difference.
Save this for your next consult. And tell me in the comments… how many corner placements were you taught?

“Just curl it and it’ll blend.”
If you’ve ever said that to a client… I’m not judging you. I’m telling you it’s fixable.
Because that sentence is usually a sign that the blend didn’t actually work… and now you’re asking your client to style around it.
Your client should be able to wear their hair:
Straight.
Half-up.
In a ponytail.
Curled.
…and the extensions should still disappear.
That’s the standard.
And seamless blending isn’t a talent you either have or you don’t. It’s a skill that can be taught.
How to choose the right weft colors.
How to custom color extensions so they disappear into the natural hair.
How to cut into a weft so it moves naturally instead of sitting like a shelf.
How to create a blend that works even when the hair isn’t curled.
That’s exactly what we’re teaching in Charleston.

This is the honest way to work out whether you need this.
Six things make extensions a service you can actually sell.
Most classes are one day, and a single day is only enough time for the first one (maybe)… that’s not a criticism of anybody, its the only time they had.
Be honest with yourself.. did you get everything you need from the class for a successful hair business or did you just dip your toes into hidden bead extensions?
Because this class is all encompassing & you have continued support..
