If I could give lash artists ONE piece of advice outside of perfecting your craft, it would be this: learn a skill that doesn’t require you to physically be somewhere to make money!!!

For me, that’s always been social media.

I started learning content creation, editing and social media on the side, and over time it gave me another way to make money that didn’t require me get “another job”

And I really think more beauty professionals should be thinking about this.

You don’t have to become an influencer. You don’t have to quit doing lashes. 😂 Just start learning something that gives you OPTIONS.

That could be:
• Video editing
• Social media management
• Content creation
• UGC
• Graphic design/Canva
• Email marketing
• Photography
• Digital products

You already have SO many transferable skills from running a beauty business — you might as well build on them.

One of the biggest things my MBA taught me was to always think about the exit plan… and it completely changed the way I look at being a lash artist.

I love this industry and everything it can give us, but I think there’s a question more beauty professionals should ask themselves: Do I want to physically do this forever? Like FOREVER 😰

Because eventually, there’s a cap on how much you can make when your income is directly tied to your time. And unlike a traditional career, there’s no built-in retirement plan waiting for us at the end.

That doesn’t mean you have to stop doing lashes or immediately start selling products, teaching, or building a team. It just means… have a plan. 🤍

Your lash business can be the career, the stepping stone, the foundation for something bigger—or all three.

Just make sure you’re building it with your future in mind.
