When I’m starting your loc journey, I like to give the perimeter a little more room with the parting. And no, I’m not doing that just to be difficult. 😏 There’s actually a reason behind it.

The hair around your edges is more delicate, and I don’t want those little hairs being stressed out trying to carry a loc that’s too heavy for the section. As your locs mature, that extra weight and tension can become a problem — and I’m not trying to have you calling me later talking about, “MiMi, what happened to my edges?” 😂

Tension alopecia is real, y’all.

I’d rather give your hair the room it needs from the beginning so your locs can mature WITHOUT constantly stressing your hair out.

Because I’m not just thinking about how your locs look when you leave my chair. I’m thinking about how they’re going to look and feel months and years from now.

That’s the whole point of being intentional with your foundation.
