Yesterday ended a second year.

The 1st for an exciting, bee stinging, honey-extracting, awe-inspiring journey and, the 2nd for beekeeping.

When at last I decided that it made to no sense to keep bees and be so afraid of bees, I had already squeezed the smoker so many times that only flaming ash remained. Fiery ash puffed through the nozzle and escaped through the airholes, because I was too afraid to stop and refill. It melted the bellows, burned through the surface of my suit and added unnecessary holes to my gloves. On day two or three, it finally dawned on me "Getting stung was just getting stung. Remove it, soothe it and medicate it".

Now, as I move through this journey, my eyes are opened and my feet dance to the buzz of inspiration. Here, at INKZBYBCS, these insects have moved from scary pollinators to pollinators of purpose.

THROUGH THE STITCHES OF TIME. My father effortlessly completed his motor rewinding projects to pen soul saving words of the gospel. My mother conquered fabric to capture every feminine curve and found those in hiding. In the sewing room, fibres of service, empathy and professionalism were sewn into my consciousness. Before customer service was a "preference", it was a MUST in the sewing room. The room brightened to warm, cheerful greetings and words of wisdom from my parents. Caring for the client, patience, kindness and respect were all I knew. Years later, being called to "pollinate pupose" through professionalism and empathy at the office of the formidable Richards & Richards, Attorneys-At-Law, JA, was truly an honour. Here integrity and efficiency meet professionalism and empathy. Now, the consumer's journey demands professionalism and empathy from start to finish and, after sales. These will define the winners in this new world of work. Look out world, Richards & Richards are buzzing ahead of the curve!

THE DEDICATED DRONE. He cannot sting and though pampered most of his life, he performs his sacrificial mating duty to the best of his ability. With lazer-like focus, the eyes on top of his head finds a virgin queen to mate with. Literally, without the drone to fertilize the neighbouring queen's eggs, colonies will eventually die. Thousands of bees are needed in each hive to keep the colony warm in cold weather, forage for nectar and pollen, keep the surroundings clean, nurse young bees and, protect the hive. Inspired by these Kings and their dedication to the cause, the journey to understanding bees and understanding life continues . 🐝
