In Japan, craftsmanship is often measured by patience rather than speed. While American culture often celebrates immediacy, at Mikura we believe some things are worth taking time for. Real results aren’t rushed.

From frustrating derm appointments to trying birth control pills for acne, this is the kind of story I hear all too often (and also went through myself!)
My beautiful client went from angry, irritated skin with stubborn breakouts that took forever to go away, to calm and healthy skin that just breaks out occasionally. And when she does get the occasional breakout, she knows exactly what to do and they resolve quickly.
If you’re ready to stop wasting money on skincare that doesn’t work, you know where to find me! Creating healthy skin is my passion ✨

the essential essence đź’§
• Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola): Revered for its exceptional wound-healing abilities, this botanical extract calms redness and irritation while promoting barrier repair and collagen production.
• Japanese Green Tea: Rich in polyphenolic compounds, it offers antimicrobial properties that help protect the skin from blemish-causing bacteria.
• Dokudami (Heartleaf) Extract: Abundant in Japan, this powerhouse ingredient is rich in flavonoids, providing potent antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits.
• Beta Glucan: With its antioxidant effects and ability to reduce redness, Beta Glucan promotes barrier repair and offers anti-aging benefits, all while minimizing transepidermal water loss (TEWL) to maintain optimal moisture levels.
This is the reality of owning and operating a small business! I’ve been getting emails from esthetics students who are about to graduate asking if they can shadow me to see what it’s like to open your own business.
Truthfully I do not recommend going off on your own until your books are full and you have steady income. It is VERY expensive to own a business these days.
Slower times can be extremely stressful as these obligations don’t go away just because you have a slower month. I am so so thankful that my business is at the point where it generates steady income throughout the year.
We don’t get paid time off and health insurance is expensive AF. On top of that I have part-time employees to pay. I pay myself $60K a year and since I’m self-employed, about 30% of that goes towards taxes.
There absolutely are perks to opening your own shop but this is not for the faint of heart!
I love and appreciate my clients SO much who support mikura despite our current economic climate 🤍 🤍🤍

Your skin barrier functions much like a brick-and-mortar structure: skin cells act as the bricks, while ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids form the lipid matrix that holds everything together.
When this balance is disrupted, the barrier becomes compromised, making skin more vulnerable to dehydration, irritation, and external stressors.
This is why thoughtfully formulated skincare matters.

Most skincare advice is designed to sell you more.
After formulating my own products and treating clients for years, here's what I actually prioritize above everything else đź“”

Glass skin isn’t a filter. It’s a function of hydration.
While glass skin has been a goal for many, the reality is that it's not realistic for everyone (stay with me now) - what truly matters is having healthy and hydrated skin, embrace your texture! ⤵️🫧🪽
The routine:
➡️ Layer lightweight hydration, one step at a time. Each product absorbing before the next is applied. Think of it like building a smooth, porcelain surface.
➡️ Apply the next layer when the previous is about 80% absorbed. Not fully dry, not rushed and just right.
& voila! a seamless, reflective finish that looks and feels healthy.
It takes patience. But the glow is worth it.
