Frozen Jade Roller Facts:
Rolling a frozen jade roller over your face can reduce fluid retention and increase circulation to the skin for a more sculpted look.
They tighten the skin and combat swelling boosting your overall glow. The lymphatic system lies just beneath the skin so no need to apply allot of pressure.
Today's fun fact: The ears can accumulate excessive dryness, debris and vellus hair. They can also have blackheads, sebaceous dermatitis, eczema, etc.
So, I wanted to remind everyone to be sure to include ears in every step of your homecare treatment regimen. From cleansing, moisturizing, nightly treatments to morning SPF application.

These are a few spray tan or self-tanning tips to prevent streaks or a crackly look on your skin.
* Exfoliation of the skin is essential. (You can use dry brushing, shaving the skin or exfoliating lotions for this purpose).
* Apply a very light amount of oil free moisturizing lotion to dry skin areas the day before spray or self-tanning.
* Always use a tanning mitt to prevent staining your hands and to ensure an even application.
* Apply in small, even sections.
* Save your feet and hands for last. (If you need more control with the feet and hands, use a large makeup brush instead of the mitt). Separate the fingers and spread them like claws to apply tanner evenly with the makeup brush. Separate toes, as well.
* A wooden spoon or spatula can be used to reach areas of the upper back.
* Give the self-tanner or spray tanner time to dry thoroughly before putting on loose fitting clothing afterwards.
* Skip long hot showers or baths.

With Spring just around the corner, many of you will begin waxing for bathing suit wear and summer outfits. Others wax consistently all year around, especially brows, lips or chin areas.
Whether for yourself or if you have a young tween or teen that may begin waxing for the first time, there is very important information that you need to know.
This information is extremely important for those that may opt to get waxed at a nail salon after a nail appointment for example. In many cases your nail technician may not be licensed to perform esthetic services. As a result, they may also not be knowledgeable of the many contraindications/complications that could occur. And, in most cases, they do not require that a client profile or questionnaire is completed. Why is this information important? It is useful to the professional in determining whether you are a good candidate. Or, if a particular wax is needed to safely perform the service. Some businesses have ONE pot of wax for everyone that they wax and one wax stick for everyone. THIS is unsanitary and unexceptionable!
One extremely important aspect of consideration in determining whether a person is a good candidate or not for waxing might be medications. Something that you might not think is important as it relates to a brow or lip wax, could prove harmful and possibly injure the skin.
Medical conditions and prescribed medications are two such things that could potentially affect your skin, resulting in unpleasant side effects to waxing or preclude you from being waxed at all.
There are lots of people who are taking antibiotics. Some for medical reasons such as colds, allergies, sinuses, respiratory issues, etc. Others are taking antibiotics for acne. Especially younger persons. Antibiotics typically used to treat acne are: Tetracycline, Erythromycin, Minocycline, Doxycycline and Clindamycin.
*You should avoid waxing while on antibiotics - both oral and topical. There is a chance of skin sensitivity while taking the medication, and the skin may lift causing excessive skin to come off during the waxing, later to scab over the injured area.
Other considerations include:
* The use of topical prescriptions such as Retinol A, Renova or Differin gel. Persons using these should not receive facial waxing. These medications are designed to exfoliate the skin and may also weaken the skin and could result in injury to the skin when waxed.
*Those on Accutane or have taken Accutane within two years should consult their physician for approval.
*Those taking Antihistamines, Cortisone, blood pressure medication, blood thinning medication and thyroid medication should be advised that waxing could cause skin sensitivity or result in an adverse reaction.
*Anyone receiving treatment for cancer related illnesses such as chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
* Those taking blood thinners, have diabetes, phlebitis or want post-cancer facial hair growth removed. As these are related to medical conditions, it is advised to see approval from the treating physician.
*Menstruation does not prevent a woman from waxing however, the skin could become more sensitive.
*Smokers or persons with rosacea may experience irritated dilated capillaries (weak or broken blood vessels). If the capillaries are already red, the professional should avoid these area(s).
*Stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol in your system could cause the skin to be extra sensitive to waxing and become red and inflamed. Opt to wait a few hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed.
*Powerful exfoliants found in skincare products such as Salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acid, white willow bark or extract and even enzymes can all strip additional skin cells from the skin from waxing. It's simply too much exfoliation. These products should not be used at least three days to a week prior to waxing and should not be used again for three days to a week after waxing.
(Depending upon the strength of these products, it may be necessary to wait even longer before and after).
Always choose your wax technician carefully and be mindful of sanitation. If you are not questioned or offered a Client Profile/questionnaire to complete - be sure to speak up and offer any pertinent information to the technician for their knowledge.
