What makes for a great hair stylist? 🤔

I thinks it’s like trying to make a killer cocktail. Depending on the bartender, you’ll get a little bit of a different mix each time, but to me it’s:

🔹1 part love of formulation
🔹1 part obsession with continued education
🔹1 part killer and unmatched guest experience with plenty of fancy amenities
🔹2 parts genuine care and love of clients
🔹Sprinkled with endless gossip, deep conversations, and topped off with a twist of belly laughs

Clients are always asking me how I get my perfect beachy waves so I’m going to reveal all my little secrets right here, right now.

Step1: I use KIN Cosmetics Design.ME Joico Redken products. Using high-quality professional products allows me to maintain the shine and fight off frizz.

Step 2: I always apply Kinessences Antiox Nectar cream spray and DesignMe glossyme shine and heat protectant before blowdrying to soften the hair and to protect from heat damage. Then dry it using my fingers, then using a brush if I want more volume.

Step3: I section up 80% of the hair just leaving a row about 1 1/2” wide at the bottom and I curl that using a 1 1/2” barrel iron. Your sections should be the same size roughly as your curling iron that you’re using. I spray each section with Redken hot sets before I curl, which helps lock in the set.

Step 4: continue letting down 1 1/2” sections until you’ve curled all the way to the top. You can choose to alternate directions of the curl or divide the hair in half and curl everything away from the face. It will feel a little Shirley Temple… Don’t worry we aren’t done yet.

Step 5: once you’ve let the hair cool for 2 to 3 minutes, take your hands and just comb through. Don’t be shy! You won’t hurt it. Then spray Joico beach shake, texturizing finisher all over. That’s it! Now you’ve got fun beach waves! Want a tutorial call or message me and let’s get it booked!
