Well, this is a new one.

Yesterday, Sassy Face KC received a four-star Google review from someone who has never been a guest of ours. After a little investigation, I discovered that the same account has been leaving similar reviews for other local spas and businesses, with a WhatsApp number displayed as the profile photo.

In other words, this was not feedback from an actual Sassy Face KC experience.

Small businesses work incredibly hard to earn every review, so even a seemingly harmless four-star rating from a fake account can affect the reputation we have spent years building.

The review has been reported, but I wanted to share this as a reminder to support your favorite local businesses by leaving genuine reviews. Your real experiences help drown out nonsense like this & allow future guests to make informed decisions.

To my actual guests who have taken the time to share their experiences: thank you. Your words mean more than you probably realize.

Apparently, we have officially reached the “attractive enough to receive fake reviews” level of business growth.

Well… I let the guy across the atrium put balloons in my nose. 😂

Meet Dr. Chad Hawk.

My curiosity about Chad’s work actually started long before this collaboration did.

From afar, I had the opportunity to witness someone’s progress over the course of several months while they were under his care.

I watched. I became curious. And somewhere along the way, I started thinking…

I want to be a part of this in some way, shape or form.

Especially because so much of what I experience with my MELT guests involves facial tension, restriction, breathing, the jaw, the head & neck, and just how much our bodies can hold onto.

Eventually, Chad and I started talking. The more we learned about each other’s work, the more interested I became in exploring how two very different approaches might complement one another.

But before I refer my guests to another provider, I want to experience their work myself. I want to understand their approach & know how I feel in their care.

So I got on Chad’s table.

His energy is calming, supportive & educational. He explained what he was doing and why, answered my questions & made the entire experience feel comfortable.

And then came the balloons. 😂

Immediately afterward, my nasal passages felt more open. My head felt lighter. The muscles throughout my face felt more relaxed.

Then I went home and slept.

My body normally carries A LOT of tension when I’m stressed. I can quite literally feel rock hard.

I slept wonderfully.

I woke up earlier than normal the next morning, but instead of feeling heavy, I felt refreshed. My body felt less tense. My mind felt clear.

Can I say one CFR session caused all of that? Nope.

Can I tell you that’s exactly how I felt after my first experience? Absolutely.

And now I’m REALLY curious.

Cranial Facial Release & MELT are not the same thing. Chad and I have different areas of expertise & approach the body in very different ways.

But sometimes taking good care of someone means recognizing where your hands end and someone else’s should begin.

Pretty damn convenient when those other hands are just across the hall. 😉

Lately I’ve been feeling the pull to just… talk.

Not every video needs to be perfectly planned or educational. Sometimes the thoughts that stay with me the longest come after I finish cleaning my treatment room.

Today, I kept thinking about a guest who experienced an emotional release during her MELT session.

Nothing bad happened. She simply let go.

I think we underestimate how much we carry in our faces. We clench our jaws. We furrow our brows. We hold our breath. We spend years asking our bodies to keep pushing through.

Then, when someone finally feels safe enough to relax, their nervous system decides it’s okay to release what it’s been holding onto.

Moments like these remind me why I love what I do.

Yes, I help people care for their skin. But sometimes the most meaningful transformation has nothing to do with skin at all.

I just got home from my second MELT Manual Facelift & Buccal Massage with Dawn, and I had to share.

Every time I experience this treatment, I’m reminded why I fell in love with this work. The release of facial tension, the deep relaxation, and the way your face feels afterward is something that’s difficult to put into words. That’s exactly why I recorded this video.
