Running a business means pouring your time, money, energy, education, resources, and heart into serving people well. It also means having policies in place to protect that time and keep the business sustainable.

Recently, we dealt with a situation where a client disagreed with policies she had already been provided and agreed to, and then chose to publicly post claims about the situation.

We stood by our documentation, our policies, and the truth.

The review has now been removed.

…And while I’m grateful for that outcome, this is bigger than one review.

Small businesses should not be expected to absorb lost revenue, reserved appointment time, endless communication, or the consequences of someone choosing to disregard terms they agreed to.

Policies are not personal.
Deposits are not punishment.
Boundaries are not bad customer service.

They exist because our time has value, our team deserves protection, and our business deserves to be treated with the same respect we give our clients.

Babe Cave is a luxury salon, but luxury to us is so much more than a pretty space or high-end service. It’s walking into a place where you can relax, laugh, vent, be loud, be quiet, come in feeling like a mess, or come in ready to be hyped up. There is no judgment here. We want you to feel comfortable, cared for, pampered, and genuinely excited to be here.

As the owner, I am constantly investing back into Babe Cave so our clients and team have the best experience possible. That means professional products, advanced treatments, continuing education, better tools and technology, upgraded processing equipment, hot towels, shampoo station massagers, blankets, heaters, and all the little details that make your visit feel elevated and intentional.

Our pricing reflects that.

Our color services are not just “highlights and toner.” Many custom color appointments include multiple professional treatments, deep conditioning, bonding products throughout the lightening and toning process, customized formulas, high-quality products, time, education, and a plan designed specifically for your hair.

We also have policies and boundaries for a reason. No-shows, late cancellations, unpaid balances, disrespect, and hours of reserved appointment time directly affect our providers and our business. Our policies are not meant to punish anyone. They protect our team’s time, income, schedule, and ability to continue providing the experience our clients deserve.

Those standards go both ways. Our stylists and estheticians are held to high expectations for professionalism, education, communication, cleanliness, quality of work, and customer service.

We are not trying to be the cheapest salon in the area. We are trying to be the salon where you feel seen, taken care of, comfortable, and confident that the people working on you genuinely care.

Luxury at Babe Cave is intentional.

Running a business is not for the weak.

One of the hardest parts is learning that you can be kind, accommodating, flexible, communicative, and still have people become upset the moment a boundary, policy, deposit, cancellation rule, or price doesn’t work in their favor.

I will always do my best to go above and beyond for my clients. I care deeply about the experience people have at Babe Cave, and I’m always willing to listen to honest feedback. But… being a business owner also means having policies in place, protecting my time and my team’s time, and refusing to tolerate disrespect, harassment, dishonesty, or crossed boundaries.

A negative review does not automatically mean a business did something wrong. Sometimes it simply means a customer did not agree with a policy, price, boundary, or outcome. Those are not the same thing.

I will never expect everyone to agree with me or choose my business, and that’s okay. What I will always expect is honesty, mutual respect, and accountability on both sides.

Running a small business means pouring everything into something you built from the ground up while also learning not to let outside noise make you question the standards you know are necessary to run it well.
