In Case You Missed It. . . .

This is a heartfelt note I recently sent out to all of our loyalty members for both FLAVOR and The Downtown Deli & Market by Flavor. I thought I would share it here as well since not everyone receives our newsletter. . .

Dear Friends (if you will please indulge me),

On behalf of myself, my family, and our amazing team, I want to take a moment to thank you for your love, kindness, and support this year. As many of you know, in January I lost my sister to cancer after a long and brave fight. Then, just a few, short weeks later, we lost my son to a motorcycle accident. Suddenly, our lives took a pause, but your loyalty did not, and for that, I am forever humbled. Thanks to your letters of love and concern, constantly telling your friends and family about our little place, and always asking how we are doing and how you can support us, we are still standing and still making it work each day. Thank you.

On another note, I want to share some thoughts. As small business owners, this year we have seen a huge impact from the growth of new, corporate-owned businesses and retail shops as they continuously and rapidly pop up around us. Districtwide in Downtown Lee's Summit, sales have slowed while rent continues to skyrocket. We've even seen the loss of some beloved shops. It is affecting us all. I graciously, yet firmly ask that you continue to make conscious efforts to thoughtfully consider where you spend your money as we finish 2023 and move into a new year. This is the best way to ensure that all of your favorite mom & pop shops, eateries, and drinking establishments are here way into the future. Other ways to help are sharing social media posts, emails, and text messages and writing positive reviews on Google, FB, or Yelp when you have a good experience. Tell your friends and family about the places you love!
