"Why does my hairstylist always want to tone my hair?" Read my explanation below, to find out...
*Stylists cannot control what the underlying pigment of a lift will be. Every single person on the planet goes through the same stages of lift, with the same undertones. Every level holds its own specific undertone. A good colorist will know the precise stage the hair needs to be lifted to, what undertone it carries, and from there, we can properly enhance, counteract, or balance that tone, to achieve the desired look.
*The picture taken at the shampoo bowl is a raw lift. The only thing I did between that color, and her final result, was a single glaze aka toner. Had I left her with the raw lift, she would have never been able to achieve the "sunkissed blonde" she desired. Not red, not orange, not yellow, not platinum. Sunkissed. Not only does a glaze give the stylist the ability to take your color to the next level, the chemical process that takes place with a true, semi or demi permanent glaze, helps to mend the broken disulfide bonds (caused when a chemical process takes place in the hair), leaving the hair, most often, healthier than it was at the start of the appointment.
Side note- my client's hair pics are always raw, unaltered photos. The color you see is what my camera captured. I know her good friend will see this post, and totally vouch for the authenticity, as her hair also ends up on my pages, often 🥰 ~L
