Just because the hair is fine, doesn’t mean it needs to be cut.

Fine hair ≠ damaged hair. Low density ≠ damaged hair. But so many of us were taught to cut based on what hair looks like, not what it actually is.

Fine hair from the root can still be perfectly healthy all the way down. The question isn’t “is this hair fine?”…..it’s “is this hair damaged?” Splitting, breakage, thinning at the ends — that’s damage. Fine texture on its own is not a diagnosis.

If you’ve been cutting because a client’s hair “looks thin” without actually assessing what’s happening strand by strand… this is your sign to slow down.

Assessment isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the whole job.

That’s the difference between someone who styles hair and someone who actually takes care of it. If you’re not catching inflammation, retention issues, and curl science BEFORE it shows up as breakage — you’re leaving money (and trust) on the table.

Stylists: if you don’t have tight curls on your platform, or you’re not confident doing them, that’s a gap your clients can feel. They’re not just looking for hands in their hair. They’re looking for someone who can tell them something nobody else has.
