Why I chose this career as a cosmetologist. Well, at twenty-four years old, I came out of a very abusive relationship with my self-esteem completely shattered. I had no idea where my life was headed. Then one day, my cousin, Olguita, inspired me with words that ignited something deep inside of me, like the courage to get back up, start over, and find purpose. And cosmetology called me. I began to understand that God had a plan and that He could use beauty as a vehicle to work through me. So I started studying with my two-year-old son by my side. For a year and a half, I immersed myself in the school, and I fell completely in love with it. What captivated me the most was never the techniques or the tools. It was that moment when the client looked in the mirror and smiles. When someone walks in feeling one way and walks out feeling like the person they always wanted to be. For me, it’s about revealing the beauty that’s already within. And above all that, my greatest hope is that through every transformation, every conversation in my chair, people don’t just see me. I want them to see Jesus. Everything I do is an act of faith and service to Him. That smile, that transformation, it fills me with a joy that never gets old. This is my purpose, this is my calling, and this is why I do what I do.
