When is abdominal pain serious? 😬🥴😭
As many of you may know my son had a crazy experience with appendicitis followed by many complications. Thankfully his symptoms were classic and hit hard leaving no doubt that he needed to be seen right away.

While working in the Emergency Department 🏥 we dealt with abdominal pain a lot. Majority of these cases are non emergent and require some over the counter medications and in a few days the patient will be back on track. 😀
"How do I know when it is emergent?" This is a question we are asked a lot. Here are a few helpful things to look for.

- Abdominal Pain that is sudden & severe
- Persistent nausea and vomiting
- Vomiting blood or blood in Stool
- Diarrhea for more than 4 days
- Severe tenderness
- Yellow skin and eyes

Looking for these symptoms will help you feel more confident in knowing when abdominal pain is emergent.

C- color changes
D- Diameter (larger then 1/4 in)
E- Evolving (changing in shape, color, texture or size)

Look for the Ugly Duckling - a mole that looks different then those around it.
