⚠️ Words are not my strong suit, so I've copied a lot of what this petition explains. Please give it a read and sign this petition to help ensure that massage therapy stays as professional and safe for everyone involved as possible.

"Currently a piece of Utah legislation is on the table that most Utah Licensed Massage Therapist's (LMT), the Local and National Massage Association Boards are against. It is SB 180. What SB 180 would establish is a lower, secondary tier of massage therapist who would have a nearly identical scope of practice despite only having as little as 125-150 hours of education.
That’s a reduction of 75-85% from the current Utah requirements: 600 hours standard schooling, or 1000 apprenticeship. SB 180 would also cut the number of hours required for Supervisors who oversee apprenticeships in half (from 6000 down to 3000), while simultaneously tripling the number of apprentices they can have at once. It would allow other professionals like doctors or chiropractors to have an unlimited number of these second tier therapists who they’re meant to oversee, despite neither of them knowing very much when it comes to massage.
In a standard massage program, in order to “just” do Swedish massage with a basic level of competency, you’re looking at around 315 hours - so what are they going to cut to get to only 150 hours? The massage techniques? Anatomy? Physiology? Pathology? Therapeutic communication? Ethics? Utah laws, rules and regulations?
Additionally, two-tiered systems for licensure exacerbate conditions conducive to exploitation, solicitation, prostitution, and s*x trafficking - which is probably why only 3 states have had a two-tiered system, and 2 of the 3 reverted back to a single licensing standard.
If allowed to pass, these woefully undereducated and unqualified “practitioners” will be a serious danger not only to their clientele, but to themselves, the public at large, and the communities in which we all live.
And for what? A quick fix for the few employers looking to "fill the gap" of not being able to be fully staffed at this time and a slap in the face to the public who seek out competent massage therapists who have not only the skill but also the knowledge of how to help them relax and get out of pain.
In the end, it seems like they ultimately just want some cheap labor, and that’s about it."

Hi everyone! I am so excited to tell you all that I am offering a new treatment at my studio!! These will be referred to as 'Relaxation' sessions.
My services are for women (she/her), but this may become something I offer to men in the future.
They are ASMR style/auditory and sensory sessions and will be a full 60 minutes of personal attention tailored to you 🥰 similar to my regular massage sessions, only these are specifically geared towards inducing deep relaxation, asmr and the pleasure of feeling loved and cared for in a safe space (opposed to balancing your muskoloskeletal system.)
Some examples of the attention you will receive are hair play, scalp, face and ear massage, back and neck tickling and scratching, light body massage, compressions and brushing, toner spritzing and aromatherapy, tapping, brushing, scratching and other sounds around you and on you.
Requests for specific treatment are welcome, but if you prefer to keep your experience a mystery I am happy to create something special for you!

For a limited time I will be offering this service for $30.
My hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30a-6p.
I occasionally honor requests outside those times if you're unable to come in during regular hours.
My studio is located in Alpine.

ASMR - Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a sensation (response) some people experience when hearing, seeing and/or feeling specific acts, motions, sounds, etc and often brings about feelings of nostalgia and deep comfort.
Many people use asmr to relax, reduce stress, increase focus on a task and to fall asleep.
Not everyone experiences asmr and you don't need to in order to benefit from this type of treatment.
