✨ what is it ? in hair terms hydration is increasing the water content within your hair shaft, specifically the cortex.
🫧 why is it important ? it is key to boosting manageability, shine, and elasticity — which helps reduce breakage.
🌻 why is hydration mandatory for curls ? the way curly hair is structured makes it hard for natural oils to travel down the hair; this leads to dryness leading to frizz and breakage.

stylists like myself typically like to post the similar hair on their social media, why is that?
the hair that’s posted frequently on a stylists page is most likely the service they enjoy the most behind the chair. this plus the algorithm ensures more people who want that type of hair to book with them!
this doesn’t mean they can’t, don’t like to, or won’t do other things. stylists are trained to do a multitude of services and hair types, meaning they can and will work to help you reach your hair goals while keeping it healthy and offering you advice on what would work best with your hair. maintenance for everyone is different but here’s a general idea for extensions + highlights:
these are sew in extensions which need to be removed and reinstalled every 6-8 weeks. depending on what your blonde looks like (rooted, solid, dimensional, etc.), you can do a partial highlight every or every other reinstall. i recommend a full highlight at least two times a year to brighten up the underneath, but can be done more if client requests. these are both higher maintenance services and require at home care but so worth it ✨💓

10 things you can do at home that will make your hair feel better 👇

• shampoo twice every time✌️
• try and shampoo only 1-3x a week. natural oils are important 🌱
• get a shampoo for your specific hair needs 👑
• use a clarifying shampoo once a week 🫧
• add a mask or rinse to your weekly routine 💆‍♀️
• start using products! at least a leave in spray, get one targeted for your needs 🎯
• stop putting it up or going to sleep while it’s wet 💧
• brush your hair when its dry & start from the bottom, then work your way up 🎀
• start using a silk/satin bonnet or pillowcase 🧸
• lower the heat settings on your hot tools and add a heat protectant before using🌡️

products i suggest for extensions 👇

- start off with a good clarifying shampoo, like bumble and bumble’s sunday ! ☀️
- follow up with another shampoo such as oribe’s alchemy ✨
- conditioner is next ! again with oribe’s alchemy line. this specific line is going to keep your hair strong & give it lots of hydration. 💧
- after washing go in with a prep product, oribe’s royal blowout is my go to. 🌬️
- for mids through ends bumble’s HIO styling cream is amazing. this can also be used for next day restyling. 😍
- after making sure all of your hair is dry follow up with some oribe gold lust oil ⭐️ and you’re good to go !

how do you keep your hair healthy when you lighten it?

there are many amazing products to help with this 🤍

ask your stylist to use k-18 every couple of appointments, this is going to protect it while lightening.
upkeep at home in between appointments is the MOST important! i always send my blondes home with bumbles bond building rinse to use just once a week.
a heat/uv protectant is a MUST! heat is the most damaging thing in your routine.
moisturizing masks are great for hydration, lightener can be drying if you’re not preventing & protecting. knowledge is power so make sure your stylist is educating you on how to take care of your investment!
