Listen very carefully…

Any relationship that could get ruined by the simple act of you having a conversation about your feelings is a toxic one.

Nothing meant to be in your life will ever require you to abandon yourself to keep it. Read that again.

First, if you bring up anything wrong that a narcissist has done, they will blame you for your reactions to their abuse & switch into victim role. This is MANIPULATION!

They will essentially act as if you’re the bad guy, when in reality, they’re the ones that hurt you. Don’t fall for it!

Then, they’ll hit you with the silent treatment as a form of punishment because how dare you try and hold them accountable for what they did to you. 🙄

By doing this, they train you to stop bringing things up. It’s a control tactic because now they hold the power in the communication.

Their behaviour has nothing to do with you. It’s instead a reflection of how emotionally stunted they are. You’re dealing with a toddler in an adult body.

BUT the withdrawal of their attention can activate your anxious attachment system, causing you to cling tighter & shift your boundaries to avoid being abandoned.

They’ll wait enough time for you to “get over it” & forget about what happened so they can now hoover you back into the relationship.

That’s when out of nowhere, they’ll send you a text saying “hey I miss you,” as if nothing ever happened.

But second chances without any growth are just patterns. Meaning, if you answer & cave in, this gives them permission to do it again & again. You become their enabler.

When you meet their hoover with silence, you send them the message that “hey, this game you’re playing doesn’t work on me anymore.” ✌️

You intellectually know it’s best to let them go, but your heart stings with grief. This is normal & shows how deeply you love.

But don’t take these strong feelings as a sign that you need them in your life. You can miss someone and still know you’ve made the right decision.

Because when you start setting boundaries & prioritizing yourself, you don’t lose real people. You lose abusers, manipulators & leeches.

Let me know in the comments if you can relate to this. 👇❤️‍🩹 01/31/2024

Toxic people like this will ruin lives and never accept responsibility for it
