I'm making this tomorrow night for guests coming to dinner.

I appreciate my Saturdays a little differently these days.

For many years, I worked at the shop on Saturdays. Don't get me wrong—I thoroughly enjoyed being at the shop and loved what I did. But having a Saturday free to do whatever I want sure does feel good.

I believe I worked Saturdays for some twenty years. Twenty years! That's a lot of Saturdays. 😉

It's funny how you can appreciate something so much more once you don't have it anymore. A free Saturday probably wouldn't have seemed like such a big deal to me twenty years ago. Now, it feels like a little gift.

I think that's what perspective does. It changes the way you see the ordinary things in life.

Sometimes you don't realize how valuable something is until you've lived without it.

And today, I'm appreciating my Saturday. ❤️
PS. I had to dig out my flannel shirt this morning!

Something is happening behind the scenes at Bittersweet… 🎄

Holiday Soap is getting closer.

For months, these soaps have been made, poured, cut, wrapped and patiently curing. Now we're getting closer to the moment when they finally make their holiday debut.

I won't show you everything just yet. Where's the fun in that? 😉

But I will tell you this…

There are beautiful scents coming, the Holiday Collection is limited, and November 1 will be here before we know it.

So consider this your first little hint.

The countdown to Holiday Soap has officially begun. ❤️

What's your favorite Bittersweet Product? I have more than one. Without any doubt, the soap comes first on the list.

As I wrap Holiday Soap, make homemade applesauce, and restock the shelves today, I’ve been thinking about something.

Little things like making applesauce or learning to make soap aren’t always learned from a book. They’re taught. They’re shared. They’re passed down to you as a gift from someone who loves you.

Today, as I made homemade applesauce, I found myself thinking about my grandmother, Lola. She made the best applesauce. I remember watching her make it, taking in every ingredient, every step, and the way she did things. I probably didn’t realize it then, but I was learning something that would stay with me.

And that’s the beautiful thing about the little things we’re taught by the people we love. They become part of us.

Maybe that’s the lesson in all of it.

Share what you love with the people you love.

Teach them what you know. Let them stand beside you in the kitchen, at the workbench, or wherever your hands are busy creating something. Because someday, those ordinary moments may become some of the most precious things they remember.

That’s how I learned.

And today, I’m realizing just how precious that gift really is.

Lola wasn’t just making applesauce. She was passing something down to me.

And now, in my own way, I’m doing the same. ❤️

Have you ever made homemade applesauce? It's so good! I always add more cinnamon.
