Seeing my work printed in this year’s My Favorite Stylists Lookbook is such a surreal little career moment for me. 🥹

And seeing Emilee Rohrer • Advanced Color Specialist sitting there on page 104?! Are you kidding me 😭

I submitted this photo earlier this year hoping maybe it would be chosen, and getting to actually see my work featured alongside so many talented artists is SO freaking cool.

Extra cool that it’s my girl sammi hart strehlou 🥹 She’s always down to let me play with her hair and is such a good model for me! 🫶🏼

Little moments like this remind me how far I’ve come behind the chair.

I haven’t made a dollar behind the chair in four weeks—and financially, I’m okay.

I planned to take three weeks off. I did not plan for Hurricane Lowell to hit Kauai the day before I returned, leaving parts of our island devastated, my salon without power and me unable to work.

This is not a “look how much money I have” post. It’s the post I wish every independent stylist would read before life forces them to.

COVID taught me that a full book is not an emergency plan. Since then, I’ve treated PTO, taxes, business expenses and emergency savings as non-negotiable parts of running my business.

Those habits couldn’t stop the storm—but they removed one layer of fear when everything else felt completely out of my control.

My exact numbers may not work for every stylist. Start where you are—even if it’s only 1%. The goal is to build a business that can take care of you when you can’t stand behind the chair.

BTC.. you were everything I had hoped for and more.

I literally have tears In my eyes writing this. This weekend ignited something in me that I haven’t felt for a minute.

I’m hungry.

I want to be better.

I’m ready to continue to level up.

I’m so inspired, and the community of people I met was honestly so amazing. I did not have one bad interaction with another person at this show.

To grow community and education in a craft that we all love and are quite frankly obsessed with is such a special thing and I don’t take it for granted for one second!

After this show I am coming out with so many thoughts and goals to improve and move forward. It’s going to take me awhile to fully process and grasp all the information and education I received.

To all my friends I got to hang out with, it was a pleasure.

To all the educators THANK YOU! 🙏🏼

It was SO fun to collab on this, play with placement, and figure out how we wanted all of these tones to live together. I think we can both confidently say… HUGE success. 👏🏼

The infamous salon meal prep 😂

If you’ve ever sat in my chair around lunchtime, there’s a good chance you’ve asked me what I’m eating because it smells SO good. 😂 I’ve had so many clients ask me for the recipe, so I figured it was finally time to share!

Being fully booked behind the chair + having fitness goals means I need lunch to be EASY.

This has become a staple in our house because I can prep our entire work week in about 30 minutes, it tastes good every single time, gives me 30g of protein and doesn’t leave me feeling heavy when I have to immediately go back to doing hair.

🍚 ½ cup jasmine rice
🦃 5 oz seasoned ground turkey (full recipe on slide 4)
🫛 ½ can green beans + salt & pepper
🌶️ A few peppers when we’re feeling fancy 😂

338 calories | 30g protein

Nothing groundbreaking. Nothing fancy. Just one of those meals that makes hitting my goals a whole lot easier during a crazy work week.

My client’s biggest concern wasn’t warmth… it was warmth that looked accidental.

She wanted caramel, toffee and brown sugar tones, but on her hair type, those shades can quickly lose their luxury if they aren’t placed and toned intentionally.

My goal was to create noticeable dimension with a soft halo of brightness around the face while keeping depth everywhere else it mattered.

✨ Foilyage for soft, seamless lift.
✨ Demi-permanent color melt for longevity, shine, and an effortless grow-out.

Utilizing freehand balayage allowed me to bring this brunette back to life without making her feel overly blonde.

Freehand painting creates a softer, more organic result than traditional foiling, making it one of my favorite techniques for adding dimension, movement, and brightness while maintaining richness throughout the hair.

✨ Lightened with Blonde IQ 9+ @ 20–30 vol
