Meet King Tut! King Tut came to the shelter as a stray back in February. He has been with us for the last 6 months.
This 4-year-old Lab/Hound is a sweet, loving angel baby...who has never once considered lowering the volume. Silence? Not in his vocabulary. Squirrel? Announcement. Leaf? Announcement. Car door closing three doors down? Urgent announcement. You move slightly? Breaking news!
Hounds were bred to use their voices and this guy said, "say less." He is deeply committed to keeping everyone informed at all times. If there is something happening, he will narrate it. If nothing is happening, he'll still narrate it.
The good news! He is extremely sweet, loves people, he has goofy lab charm with dramatic hound flair, and he genuinely wants to be your best friend. He would thrive in a home with space to let his inner town crier shine. Rural property preferred, sense of humor required. If you've ever wanted a loyal companion who doubles as a live sound system, this is your guy. Applications open. Volume included.

Thimbleberry season has arrived along the Oregon Coast, and these delicate wild berries won’t be around for long. Found along forest trails and woodland edges, thimbleberries are known for their sweet, slightly tart flavor and soft texture that makes them impossible to ship or sell commercially. If you spot a patch, pick only the berries that come off easily, enjoy a few fresh, and leave plenty behind for wildlife and other foragers.

This beautiful Great Blue Heron stood perfectly still among the eelgrass, patiently waiting for its next meal. With a wingspan that can reach nearly 7 feet, these graceful birds are masters of patience, often remaining motionless for minutes before striking with lightning-fast precision.

If you’re exploring tide flats, estuaries, or bays along the Oregon Coast, keep an eye out—you may spot one standing like a statue before it suddenly comes to life.
