Watching the support and excitement surrounding The Studio at Zen has been incredible.

What started as a vision for a salon rooted in self-care, community, and connection continues to grow in ways I never imagined. Seeing people gather, celebrate milestones, host events, share knowledge, build relationships, and create memories within these walls reminds me that spaces matter.

At Zen, we've always believed beauty is about more than what we see on the surface. It's about confidence, community, wellness, growth, and creating opportunities for people to come together.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Zen Salon & Studio and now The Studio at Zen. Whether you've sat in my chair, attended an event, rented the space, referred a friend, or simply shared a post, you have helped make this vision possible.

This is only the beginning, and I am grateful to be building it alongside such an amazing community.

Today was the first meeting of Beyond Beauty, and I walked away learning just as much as the students.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students through what many knew as the Hair, Skin & Nails Club. What started as conversations about personal hygiene, hair care, skin care, and nail care has continued to evolve. As I planned for this new season, I realized the lessons we were sharing were reaching far beyond beauty.

As we went around the room introducing ourselves, I noticed that many of the students were shy, hesitant to speak, or struggled to identify things they enjoy. At first, that made me a little sad. But then I realized something important: this is exactly why this program is needed.

These students are at an age where they are still discovering who they are, what they enjoy, what they’re good at, and who they want to become. Before we can talk about beauty, we have to talk about confidence. Before we can talk about appearance, we have to talk about identity.

One of our activities included a table filled with self-care and personal hygiene items. Students selected an item, shared its purpose, and talked about how it relates to self-care. The excitement in the room grew with every student who participated. By the end of the session, students who were hesitant to speak at the beginning were raising their hands, sharing their thoughts, and engaging with one another.

What I learned today is that this isn’t just a club about hair, skin, and nails.

It’s about helping young people discover who they are.

It’s about building confidence.

It’s about creating a safe space where students feel seen, heard, and valued.

It’s about helping them identify their strengths, explore their interests, and recognize their potential.

This is why the name Beyond Beauty resonates so much more than Hair, Skin & Nails Club.

Because true beauty is beyond the surface.

Beyond Beauty is rooted in Self-Care, Service, Education, and Community, and I am excited to see where this journey leads.

Today, 18 students showed up. More importantly, 18 young people walked into a space where they were encouraged to be themselves, share their voices, and begin discovering who they are.

And that’s a beautiful place to begin. 💚

Behind the scenes at Zen… where the spa rooms are almost finished and apparently Char has already claimed her favorite one. 😂

One minute we’re measuring, organizing, and doing final remodel touches… and the next, she’s popping out of doorways like she already owns the place. Honestly… she might.

Watching this next chapter come together has been so special. From unpacking vanities and fixtures to dreaming up the guest experience, it’s all starting to feel real. Soon, you’ll officially meet Char — our future esthetician at Zen — and we cannot wait for you to experience the care, intention, and energy she’s bringing into these rooms.

Until then… enjoy the bloopers, the construction chaos, and the excitement behind the scenes. Because building “The Zen Experience” has definitely come with a few laughs along the way.
