Many bittersweet tears were shed today by both shelter staff and volunteers as Marsala, the 120-pound dog shown below, left Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control after 918 days there.

Yes, you read that correctly: Marsala spent more than 2 1/2 years at AACACC living in a cage. Sadly, based on all we heard and read during his painfully prolonged court case, Marsala's days at the shelter, where he was cared for by staff and volunteers who adored him, played with him and walked him, were by far the best of his sad life...so far. Today he left with a shelter rescue partner that has a foster-to-adopt family several states away waiting to show him how good a dog’s life can be in a REAL home. We're all so happy for you, Marsala; have a great life!
