Exfoliating 24-48 hours before a spray tan is key to achieving the best results for several important reasons:

1. Skin Healing
Irritation Reduction: Exfoliating too close to your spray tan can irritate the skin. Allowing a day or two lets your pore close again reducing possible irritation, ensuring a smoother application.

2. Better color results
Waiting 24-48 hours between exfoliating and spray tanning allow the proteins in your skin to replenish. This is essential as the spray tan solution reacts with proteins and air to create color. Exfoliating too close to your spray tan may lead to a lighter-than-desired result.

3. Enhanced Product Absorption
Waiting allows your skin to stabilize, creating a more balanced surface. This enhances the absorption of the tanning solution, leading to a more even and vibrant tan.

4. Smoother Surface
Exfoliating in advance helps remove dead skin cells, but waiting gives your skin time to adjust, ensuring it's perfectly smooth for the tanning solution to adhere to.

5. Longer-Lasting Results
A well-prepped skin surface allows for better adherence of the tan, which means it will fade more evenly and last longer, avoiding patchiness.

6. Avoiding Product Interference
No Residuals: Immediate exfoliation can leave residues or oils that interfere with the tanning solution. A 24-48 hour window ensures your skin is clean and ready.

By following this timeframe, you maximize the effectiveness of your spray tan while minimizing the risk of uneven coloring or irritation.

Here’s how to maintain that beautiful bronzed glow. Here’s what you should know about aftercare and what to expect:

Aftercare
1. Avoid Water: For at least 6-8 hours post-application, avoid water, sweating, and any activities that may cause you to perspire. This allows the tan to properly develop.

2. No Tight Clothing: Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent any rubbing or streaking on your skin.

3. Avoid Fragrance: Stay away from perfumes and scented products for the first 24 hours, as they can interact with the tanning solution.

Showering After Spray Tan
- Timing: You can shower 8-12 hours after the application.
- Water Temperature: Use lukewarm water, as hot showers can strip the tan faster.
- Gentle Cleansing: Use a gentle, sulfate-free body wash. Avoid scrubbing your skin vigorously.

Moisturizing
- Hydration is Key: Start moisturizing your skin daily to keep it hydrated and prolong the life of your tan. Look for products free of alcohol or heavy oils.
- Avoid Exfoliating Products: For at least a week, refrain from using exfoliants, which can fade the tan.

What to Expect
-Gradual Development: The tan will continue to develop for 24 hours, reaching its peak color around that time.
- Fading: Expect the tan to last anywhere from 5 to 10 days, depending on your skin type and aftercare.
