I actually know the answer… Executive functioning tasks are often hard with ADHD because they’re not actually “one task.” They’re a chain of steps that require initiation, sequencing, sustained attention, and follow-through. That means your brain has to organize, prioritize, and transition multiple times before you ever feel done. Add in sensory variables (noise, heat, physical effort, textures) and the task can become cognitively draining or physically uncomfortable in ways that aren’t obvious from the outside. Blow drying your hair is a perfect example of this. It’s repetitive, isolating, and blocks most forms of stimulation (you can’t scroll, multitask easily, listen to music, talk to others) while also requiring physical effort and tolerating heat and noise. For an ADHD brain that runs on interest, novelty, and external input, that combo creates friction at every stage, which is why something so simple can feel disproportionately hard to do.
The shine on this ring is stunning. I love to let the light catch it and see the color turn. 🤌 ✨ Anything eco conscious right now has my attention. My ring is made from recycled glass (think discarded cocktail glasses) and is mounted on sterling silver plated pewter. smart.glass.jewelry
What horrible thing has your partner said to you?
Who can relate? As a millennial neurodivergent in the corporate space I’ve found ways my brain serves my career farther than work against it. Come hang out.
Allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m a neurodivergent content creator and marketing professional and I think you should come hang out! Intro yourself in the comments!
How many of these do you do? I wake up in the wildest positions. A lot of ADHD brains struggle to downshift at night. The body looks for input like pressure, tension and containment, to help the nervous system settle. So instead of lying flat we subconsciously create our own regulation. Compression. Weight. Edges. Something to push against. I used to think I just slept weird.
If you’ve rewritten an email five times… this might be why. Most of the time it’s not about the wording. You’re trying to predict how the other person will react. So you soften it. Then soften it again. Then add a sentence explaining your tone. Then delete the sentence because now it sounds weird. Maybe you add an exclamation point. At some point the email isn’t about communication anymore. It’s about trying to manage someone else’s emotions before they even read it. And unfortunately… no amount of editing can do that. Be kind. Be clear. Be confident. That’s all you can do. How many drafts does your average work email go through?
One of the easiest ways to be instantly more likable is also one of the simplest: use someone’s name when you greet them. Whether it’s “Good morning, Sarah,” “Hey Mike,” or starting an email with “Hi Jordan,” it signals that you see them as an individual, not just another interaction on your list. Research consistently shows that hearing or seeing your own name increases attention, warmth, and positive perception, and using it once in a greeting is enough to create that effect without sounding forced or scripted.
Just a trim thanks!
the girls that get it. Never have I been more smug about the ability to make bread than during this pending snowpocalypse. Those grocery store shelves will never see me coming.
