I usually try to give clients some kind of baby root.

Why would you want to put roots back on after you highlight them?

I’ll tell you why!

1. It eliminate lines. Highlights are stripey. Period. The thicker the highlight the more coverage but the bigger the stripe is.

2. Softer grow out. Slightly less maintenance.

3. If blonde has a darker base to stand out, It pops. So if you have a slight root, your blonde looks brighter.

We are navigating the current surge, and our protocols are holding.

Here’s how you can help us ensure everyone continues having a safe experience at the salon in January:

Please have your mask on prior to entering our space. For now we aren’t serving beverages and ask that you don’t bring snacks, so your mask can remain on throughout your visit.

Please do not bring anyone with you to your visit that doesn’t have a reservation at the same time.

We are happy to offer alternative reservations for after this current Covid surge for anyone who is compromised or raising unvaxxed Littles or would feel more comfortable visiting during low traffic periods.

What hairspray shortage?

We were able to procure a trove of these classic happies, so if you’re out or running low on hairspray, stop by for your share.

Claudia had previous red color with heavy color buildup on her ends). After a year and a half, (like most blondes) she wanted to go back to something that was closer to her natural.

Sooo here is the thing—In order for me to do this Claudia had to wait 5 months (for her natural to grow out) and cut off 8 inches of her hair. I honestly thought she would decline, but she called me on my bluff.

This was super labor intensive and was broken up between two appointments.

When stylists tell you “no” they aren’t being mean. There are a majority of reasons someone would decide to deny a service. Trust is paramount. That’s why it’s important to have a consultation before a big transformation. When you know what you’re getting in to the process isn’t as bad.

Ashy hair

Does this look ashy or warm to you?

When speaking with clients during a consultation, I try to look for key words such as “bright”, “pearly”, or “silvery”.

Here are some things to know about ash hair color:
1. It is impossible to lift to ash. No ones hair lifts ashy. Lifting hair always creates warmth.
2. Ash is blue/grey. It has no anchor at blonde so it is very quick to fade.
3. Ash is absorbent; therefore, it doesn’t diffuse light. So it appears darker than it actually is.

Think about the ocean on a stormy day versus a sunny day. How does the water look?

Hairstylists including me 🙋🏼‍♂️ are very literal. So bring pictures to your consultation to show what you mean. Do you mean ashy? Or do you mean not brassy?

This is done on Jenniffer, and took about 6 hours.

Blonding dark hair isn’t easy or quick.
Here are some things to consider if your hair is dark, and you want to be blonde.

Lightener ain’t conditioner. Oravee did have some breakage, but it was minimal.

This process took over 8 hours. We discussed beforehand so she was aware.

Her hair will never look the same as someone with lighter hair lifted to blonde. When toned it will always look darker and ashier. Not toned it will be very warm and very yellow.

We love to see it, and she looks amazing.
