So this happened.

After three hard days of complications, Izzy our eldest Nigerian Dwarf goat has had her kids.

Three nights and two days of hand feeding with an oral syringe every four hours and Izzy had her babies this morning at 2:30am. I had to warm her small one to 101.5 but her two kids are doing well so far and I’m monitoring all three of them, mama and babies.

Living the goat mama life. Prayers for Izzy. She’s due tomorrow and is dealing with ketosis. I raise goats so that I can have goat milk in my products as I know the goats were well cared for and are raised ethically. It adds a level of complexity and anxiety for sure. There is no getting around loving these sweet creatures.

We are in the swing of thing. Eight and half cases of candles hand poured. I just have to do that all again to be ready for the holiday markets.

You know you’ve been hard at work when the guitar string breaks on the soap cutter while cutting your Pike’s Peak soap. Did you know the song “America the Beautiful” was written while on Pike’s Peak here in Colorado?
