Topstone Barber Co.
Barber shop in Littleton NH
09/22/2022
This announcement is bitter-sweet. Some of you may already know, some of you saw it coming but it's official. I'm moving to Brooklyn.
These have been an amazing 4 years in Littleton and 7 years as Topstone Barber Co. Standing behind this chair, hearing your stories and sharing my own has made me the person I am today.
New clients have become "regulars" and even friends. I often say the "secret sauce" at Topstone is "giving a s**t" and I really do. Both about the haircut I'm doing and the person wearing it. I want to say thank you to all those who gave one about me over the years. This has been a wild ride. Thank you for all the stories and supporting me as I get ready to make some stories of my own.
The shop will continue to be a barbershop now with Amber Po***ck behind the chair. She's been trained at my alma mater New England School of Barbering and will be running the shop very similarly to me. I wish her the best of luck and hope she finds the same success and happiness that I have had in Littleton.

Up to my knees on the way in this morning. Thanks to everyone keeping me crazy busy this morning. If you've been a regular for a while you know my schedule keeps filling up further and further.
Been staying about a month out consistently since December. Jump in the calendar early for March and hit my wait-list to be notified when a cancellation happens.

Just as soon as the summer weather has arrived it's time to start thinking about going back to school. Even if your school days are long gone my schedule is filling up fast so plan ahead for your next cut.
Thank you to everyone that has made it a good and busy summer so far. I'll be working 7 days a week through the end of August to keep up with demand. Check out my website and grab a spot before they're all gone.

Okay, so here we are: it's finally time. We've waited, paying close attention to precautions taken by others we respect in our industry as they re-open. Now, there is still some inherent risk in us opening our doors, but we've decided that as long as we can work together with our clients, we can do this as safely as possible.
There are going to be a few changes into our typical service style:
We will continue to run only by appointment. With these new guidelines, we cannot have additional clients waiting for their service in the barbershop prior to their appointment time. We ask that all clients arrive promptly at their appointment time and that clients refrain from booking appointments for children that cannot sit for the entirety of their service by themselves.
It is recommended by the state that if a shop has the ability to implement online prepaying, in lieu of cash payment in person, they do so. Our scheduling system, as well as our point of sale system, allows for this; therefore we will be instituting this process. When booking your initial appointment with this new process, it will ask for payment information to reserve your spot and it will be charged upon completion of the appointment. This leads to our next change.
Before closing, due to COVID-19, we were having a noticeable amount of no shows. With this new system, appointments must be canceled no less than 12 hours prior. Aside from any unforeseen emergency, you will be charged for the missed appointment. We are extending our appointment duration in order to give ourselves the necessary time to disinfect between clients. This causes a loss in potential revenue, therefore we cannot tolerate no-shows during this time.
Face masks will be worn by both barber and client for the duration of the service. We ask that you arrive with your own face mask, as we have a limited number to provide to clients that arrive without one.
Although our scheduling system will be open to the public and accessible by anyone, we ask that if you're booking with us, for the safety of both ourselves and other clients, you either be a member of our community or have quarantined for 14 days upon arriving to our region.
We will be taking our first appointments June 16th. Online booking will be available on June 10th for anyone, but it has been evident that our hiatus has caused a higher demand. Therefore, we are offering the opportunity to have early access to our booking system. Jump on our website and give us a little head start. Any merchandise sales, made in our online store before June 8th, will receive access to booking on June 9th. We've got t-shirts, mugs, and koozies sitting around just waiting for a new home; check out our website.
We thank you for being patient with us as we have moved carefully through this process, trying not to make rash decisions that could affect the safety of our community. We're happy to welcome our customers back and to return to doing the job we love.
I’m sure by now most everybody has heard that Gov. Sununu in his new stay at home plan has eased restrictions on some businesses and industries. This plan has included barber shops and salons with restricted services and added limitations on how the shop can conduct business,
Our crew has gotten together and spoken at length to determine how we will move forward with this new information and have decided that we will not be reopening May 11th.
Ensuring the health and safety of both our customers and barbers is paramount and the “safeguards” outlined in SAH 2.0 fail to account for the close contact we must have with our customers in order to do our job. These precautions limit the number of customers in the room and restrict each visitor from coming in contact with one another. But, when you take into consideration that it is us as barbers that will be the common denominator between each individual that comes in our doors they seem to fall short of the level of protection we are currently trying to create.
We do not have an official reopening date in mind but we will be sure to update you in the coming weeks. We have been closely monitoring how shops around the state and country are responding to this and will continue to use that information to make the best decision we can.
We cannot wait for the day we come back to our shop and have more good times behind the chair. In the meantime we hope you all stay safe, be healthy and buy a hat.
Thank you,
Topstone Barber Co.

We've had to make the same call that many other shops around the state and country have made. Effective tonight 3/19 we will be closing. Any appointments currently in the books will have to be rescheduled for after we reopen. It is hard to know if this is the "right" decision but given the information we have it seems it is the one we should be making.

We may be better known for whipping up a creamy lather but now we have partnered up with Schilling Beer Co to whip up a delicious cream ale we're calling Handlebar in support of The Movember Foundation.
Join us today in at Schilling Beer Co for a special release & pop-up barbershop benefiting the Movember Foundation-- a dollar from every pint sold of this beer will be donated to further research supporting men’s physical and mental health challenges, including prostate cancer and cardiovascular wellness.
