My friend here is a great example of how to keep your vivids VIVID! I haven’t seen her since June and look how much color is still in there!

How does she do it?
*Cool/Cold wash
*Color safe shampoo
*Space out your washes
*Be mindful of using heat, and USE A HEAT PROTECTANT!

This can really extend the life of your fashion colors and if you’re working with single color or can separate out different shade, color depositing shampoos and conditioners can really be a game changer too! I can even make these for you on your custom shade! (And that’s not just for those bright colors!)

Seriously though. She’s been our pre k teacher, our babysitter, though now I just ask her to hang out with Beastie, she cat sits. She’s totally become family at this point. 🖤

Finally. MY summer vacation.
Our plan was NOLA, but the storm in the Gulf made us second guess. Especially after all we’ve seen with flooding in our own backyard. I joked about coming to Colorado instead, and I guess I manifested it! 🤩

My sweet friend here is the second recipient of a wig from Wigs for Kids that I’ve fitted and styled.

I enjoy doing the donation cuts, but I never could have imagined how much THIS part fills my cup.

I met Miss Lucia several months ago, and I know her medical situation had an effect on her overall self. When I put the wig on her, even before I cut the fringe, you could see the difference. She was more talkative, happier, it’s like I watched her BLOOM right in my chair.

I share this bc if you’ve got long hair and you’re thinking about a big chop, consider donating. And if you’re not a candidate with WFK, there are other reputable organizations.

If you’re a stylist, services like this are not going to make you rich, but it will feed your soul. 💙

My new friend came in for pretty big chop, then after discussing some options for color(First Timer!) she came back in for this!

We wanted were really doing more brightening than blonding and honestly I was out of the toner I wanted, so we went a little warmer than I planned.

That said, she’s happy, I’m happy. And she has fun new hair for her exciting vacation!

Hey hair friends! Kids are out of school so it’s officially summer right?!

If you’ve been putting off your hair appointment, now’s the time! I know some vivid colors aren’t allowed in school or our professional lives, so if you’ve been thinking about stepping outside your box, LET’S DO IT!

Our hair does need a different kind of love during the summer months. We’re out in the sun more, and probably NOT wearing a hat. You’re swimming more, in the pools, rivers/lakes and the ocean! Those all take a toll on our hair, so consider a detox, deep conditioning like simple hair mask or a bond builder to help revive and protect your tresses.

Going on vacation where it’s MORE humid? A Brazilian Blowout or keratin treatment can help your drying time decrease but also help with frizz and shine!

I love doing these haircuts, and now that I’m doing the measuring for wig recipients it’s even more rewarding! Y’all saw my little friend with her new wig a couple weeks ago, and I still smile when I think about how happy it made her.

This is my sweet friend Miss C, we met last fall when she needed to be fitted for a wig from .for.kids. I’ve been doing donation cuts for several years now, but only last year did I get certified for this part.

Her gorgeous wig came in, so she came back for a visit to get her new hair styled! She truly is one of the sweetest little souls I’ve met, and when I would tug on her hair while working she would tell me, “It’s ok”.

This is the most beautiful thing I’ve done in my career, to be able to give her back some normalcy when her life was turned upside down.

It’s an honor sweet girl, thank you (and your parents!) for trusting me on your journey!

If you’re going to do a big chop, why not donate it? I mainly work with Wigs For Kids, with the donation cuts but last year I also got certified to measure recipients for their new wigs! While I do have a service fee for the cuts, its deeply discounted. Recipients do not pay for any of their services, including the cutting and styling of their new wig.

I also work with Children With Hair Loss, their requirements are different than WFK, and I like to have options for my guests.

This is a something I feel deeply about, through my personal experiences with cancer related loss but also seeing the effects of Alopecia in several friends.

There is nothing wrong or shameful about rockin’ a bald head, but we ALL deserve to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
