A little story from Sunday …

Late Sunday afternoon, I got a call from a number I didn’t recognize. Something in my gut told me to answer the call.

The gentleman on the other end asked if I was the owner of Cleanse Co. and told me he had found some kids inside the shop while we were closed! (Like, what?!!) Thankfully, he had already gotten them out of there by the time he called, and I was only a few minutes away.

When I got to the shop, I discovered that while I had locked the door, one latch on the second door hadn’t fully engaged on top. If pushed hard enough, the doors could eventually be forced open. Lesson learned.

The good news? Nothing was taken, nothing was damaged, and the only evidence left behind was a few handprints on the glass. We all know it could have been so much worse!

We do have a Ring security system in the shop. It turns out the problem wasn’t the camera, it was the owner 🙋🏻‍♀️ … My motion notifications weren’t turned on, so I never received an alert. They certainly are now!

More than anything, this is a thank you to the family who took the time to call and make sure everything was okay. Small businesses are lucky to have people in the community who pay attention and are willing to step in when something doesn’t look right. I never even got their names, but I’m incredibly grateful.

If the gentleman who called me happens to see this, please stop by the shop and introduce yourself. I’d love the chance to thank you properly, and I have some dumplings waiting for the kids who were with you 🫶🏻

And to the kids ~ do better. The dumplings are cute, but they’re not catch a charge kind of cute 🤍
