Identifying the undertone of you skin?
People fall into one (1) of the three (3) categories, Warm, Cool, Neutral.
Warm tones are the reds, golds and oranges.
Cool tones are blues, purples and greens.
Neutral tones are a combination of the warm and cool tones. However individuals are still going to be closer to one side of the spectrum. As a 100% neutral does not exist.

So how can one identify what skin tone they are? Now with that said, the depth of skin color, dark to lightness has NOTHING to do with the tonality. This is a common mistake one makes.

I found a trick while teaching that i feel is fools proof, once practiced.
First you must imagine a big chain necklace. Either made of gold or of silver.
Then place this imaginary chain around the neck of the individual you're trying to categorize.
In your mind you must answer; I/they look best with the gold chain, I/they look best with the silver chain, or I have no clue which one looks best?

Gold chain = Warm skin tone.
Silver chain = Cool skin tone.
IDK which chain= Neutral skin tone.
Once you identify the neutral, it is then a lot easier to see which side of spectrum they fall on. Neutrals can wear both warm and cool tones or even a combination. One of the two tones, will still compliment a little more than the other.

Why is this important?
Understanding the undertone of your skin will assist in your understanding and decisions of what looks best on you. Makeup, clothing, jewelry and yes of course hair color.

Usually after realizing this, the individual becomes aware of the warm / cool colored outfits hanging in the closet. Why they have gone through life saying this color, is my color. The color make up worn on the face. Or why you never wore make up cause it never looked right. Also the jewelry in the box, all of a sudden makes sense.
