After 30 years, I have hung up my hat as a hair stylist.
I've been working towards this since before I went back to college. I almost retired during the pandemic. It was my goal for last year, but circumstances didn't allow it.
It feels strange. Uncomfortable. I'm still questioning this decision, even though I've been working towards this for almost a decade.
I'll miss my clients. The many people who I've crossed paths with. My fellow stylists. They've all supported me and become a huge part of my life.

It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been at Phenix for 2 years!
I am moving to Suite 116 across the hall. Make a right at the fountain, and I’m the first door!
As the price of everything goes up, my costs have as well.
On August 6th I will be adjusting my prices. All services will be going up $2.
So, if you get a cut and color it will go up a total of $4.
I am also adjusting my hours. Working 6 days a week is not easy.
I’ve shortened my hours and am taking 1 Saturday off a month.
I’ve also changed some things on Square to make things more equitable. It shouldn’t be so hard for anyone to find an appointment within 6 weeks, and these changes should help that.
Square has also changed some things, and not for the better. For me anyway.
Booking online is now limited to within 30 days.
I've also updated my cancellation policy to 2 days. I know things change rapidly, but this helps plan a little better.
I understand that life happens, but please let me know asap. Cancellations within 24 hours will result in a $38 charge, or half of the value of the service booked, whichever is higher. No shows or repeated cancellations will result in no longer being able to book your appointment ahead of time. In extreme cases I may ask for a credit card up front in order to book appointments.

As of today, Salons are fully open. All of the restrictions have been lifted, and things are now moving back to normal. You no longer have to text me before your appointment. If you want to, I'm all for it, but it's no longer necessary.
I am fully vaccinated. I have been since March. I am still taking every sanitizing precaution I can in-between clients, so I'm still booking time for that.
If you are not vaccinated, it is still recommended to wear your mask.
If you are not comfortable removing your mask in public, I understand. I will wear mine as well if you want me to. I want you to be comfortable! If you do, please try to text me before your appointment to let me know.
Welcome to the new normal!
As of midnight tonight, salons have been mandated to shut down again. Until further notice, I will not be in the salon on Saturdays. I'll keep you posted when we are open again.

Whoa, 2020 has been a heck of a roller coaster, hasn't it?
Well, the ride isn't over yet! There are a lot of things happening in my little world and I can finally share them with you. Buckle up, there are a few, but they're all good!
First, the update we've all been waiting for. Los Angeles county finally gave us the go ahead to open indoors! The same restrictions apply - masks are required, I'll take your temp before entering, wait in your car until I come get you, and don't bring anyone with you if you don't have to. Still can't provide drinks or magazines, so come prepared! I'll be contacting those I had to cancel when they shut us down - again- to reschedule shortly.
Now the big news I've been waiting to tell you for weeks. I'm changing locations!
Believe me, it's for the better. I want nothing but the best for both of us, and my last location just wasn't it. It's slightly farther, but a better location, better energy, and more importantly - it has parking!!! I'm now inside the Phenix Salon Suites, 6642 E Pacific Coast Highway, Suite 103, Long Beach, CA, 90803. It's right next to 5 Guys Burgers where the Whole Foods used to be before the mall at PCH and 2nd opened. I can't wait for you to see it!
The final tidbit left to share is this: I'm switching online booking platforms. Vagaro has served me well, but it just isn't economical for me to continue paying for a service if there are other options that give me the same thing for free. I'll be using Square Appointments from here on out. You can still book online, and you'll continue to get reminders and confirmation, just like Vagaro. After your create your account you can change how you want to get those notifications. The email confirmations will have a way to add the appointment directly to your calendar! I know change is not easy, but this may actually be easier for both of us.
