I’ve done many things in life yet one thing has remained the same- my passion for skincare and all things beauty.
Skincare is the new makeup! The older I get, the less I wear but the better I look. 😉 I’ve found that Black women and men aren’t as knowledgeable as our counterparts about skincare and esthetic treatments that can be beneficial to our skin. We don’t know what to do, what to use, when or how.
Because I started doing makeup in 2005 at the MAC counter in Park Plaza Mall, I had more exposure and guidance from seasoned skincare junkies. I started early with treatments, serums and masks. I’ve worked for MAC, Sheseido, Aveda, La Métier de Beauté and dabbled in various other brands with Drunk Elephant and Biossance being 2 of my fave lines.
With all things, prevention is key. Let’s be honest, we’re all going to age, but we should do so gracefully and unapologetically. I want to bring us all up to speed. This is my purpose.

Several inquiries about my veggie plate tonight!
Salad:
Romaine lettuce
Half an avocado
Cherry tomatoes
Olives
English cucumber
Red onion
Pepperoncinis
A little shredded Colby jack cheese
A drizzle of Brianna’s Asiago Caesar dressing
Also sautéed broccoli and sautéed Brussel sprouts with coconut aminos (cooked them separately so they’d have different flavors).
I’m lowering carbs to get a little an definition. But I did have some teriyaki chicken when I finished this. Sometimes, my body just craves fresh.

I cannot believe I gave up drinking soda a couple of years ago. I replaced that need for something cold and fizzy with sugar free. flavored sparkling water and have never looked back! Now whenever I try to drink one I can’t. They’re sooo sweet and syrupy. Yuck!
Although some say it’s an acquired taste, it didn’t have to grow on me. My favorite brands are Bubly, Waterloo and Perrier. I’ll drink Aha, La Croix and Arrowhead brand too.
Soda of course is full of empty calories adding to bloat and belly fat. Furthermore, they’re no good for your teeth. Read this article and make the switch!

This is why it’s so important when starting a new regimen to give it the full 6-8 weeks. Some people will experience purging. No it’s not pretty, but that stuff was hiding right benath the surface. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
