I think it’s time to rethink and apply a more stringent policy regarding children in the barber shop space.

After having done hundreds of children’s haircuts, I feel like I am in a good place to know what children are like in a barbershop space. I love kids. I think they’re hilarious and cute and far more intelligent than we give them credit for. Some are wonderful and sit so well in my chair, regardless of age. Others have a more difficult time, probably mostly due to their age. And while I don’t fault them for acting their age, in a pursuit to people please, I have let a lot of really crappy, stressful, and even potentially dangerous situations slide — mainly because as a parent, I know getting your kid a decent hair cut can be difficult and I want to leave grace and space for that.

However, I’ve come to a place where my willingness to let those things slide has ended. I just can’t handle it anymore. It’s stressful for everyone involved. It doesn’t get the job done. Often, due to a lack of cooperation, it pushes my next clients’ time slot back, which puts me behind for the foreseeable rest of the day. I just can’t. It’s a waste of everyone’s time and energy.

So… if your child is unable to sit at least moderately well in the chair, either on a booster or in your lap, I’m going to have to refuse the service then and there. It’s stressful, it’s dangerous, and, frankly, I just don’t want to deal with it anymore.

New year, new IMPORTANT stuff!

This last year has been unbelievably busy, and I thank everyone that’s taken the time to come in to the shop and see me. I’ve never in my life been this booked out, and for that I’m unbelievably grateful. But with growth comes change. And these positive changes and higher quality services cost more money to perform. So… It’s that time! I’ve been debating hard about this, but I think it’s time to raise prices a little. So starting Jan 1st, I will be doing just that! Not significantly, but enough that I’d like everyone to be aware. I’ll be following up

Also starting Jan 1, I’m beginning a new referral program! If you refer a new client, I’ll be giving a 30% discount to your next service following your referral’s visit. Make sure to take advantage of this program and save yourself some sweet, sweet cash!

Again, I want to thank everyone who’s been in the shop in 2022. I can’t wait to see what 2023 brings for the commons barber and this community!

Friends and folks, PLEASE make sure you’re checking the actual date of your appointment. I’ve had a ton of people coming in a week or two early thinking that they had made an appointment for the week of.

Especially around the holidays, I get booked out for a couple weeks at a time, sometimes. I don’t want you to have to come in thinking you’re getting your hair cut that day, if I’m unable to get to you.

I’ll do my absolute best to get you in as soon as I can week of, but sometimes I just genuinely can’t!

My HOURS ARE CHANGING IN OCTOBER!

I’ve been meaning to post this for a couple days now, but I’m going to be changing my hour starting October 4th from 10-5 instead of the current 9-4.

I think this will help a lot of clients whose children are in school or who have a difficult time getting in because of our hours being similar. Hopefully it’ll be a positive change for my beloved clients, and I look forward to seeing how it works for y’all! Peace and love, homies!

Note: if you have a recurring appointment anytime before 10 am, I’ll be contacting you so we can get it worked out.
