Why Young Living?
Okay guys, listen up.
We are so crazy passionate about YL in this group, and I'm gonna break it down for ya.

The vast majority of essential oils on the market today are only suitable for cosmetics and perfumes. The reason Young Living’s oils are so different is their unmatched commitment to producing a pure, unadulterated oil. Young Living’s devotion to creating a highly therapeutic product means they’ve invested in their own farms, care for and nurture their own plants, trees, and shrubs, and finally distill, test, and bottle the oils that arrive on your doorstep.

I've seen this first hand at their Mona, Utah and St. Maries, Idaho farms. This year we will see the Ecuador farm, and next year the Black Spruce farm in Canada! Anyone can go visit a YL farm! DO IT. It will blow your mind.

If at any point in that production process something doesn’t meet their standards, they get rid of it and start again. Because of this, our favorite oils sometimes go out of stock… and we are happy about it! Because we love getting our oils from a company that doesn’t crank them out quickly in a lab to make a buck, but waits on the plants to grow (no synthetics) and until the batch is perfect. They accept nothing less.

No other company owns farms or distilleries. Repeat. NONE. Let me give you an example of how important it is for a company to know the right time of day to harvest the plant and exactly how long to distill the plant to produce the chemical compounds the plant contains that is therapeutic to our bodies.

Let's take CYPRESS ESSENTIAL OIL, which has 280 known chemical constituents. If it is distilled for 20 hours you only get 20 of the 280 properties. If distilled for 26 hours you get none of the properties.
Most market cypress is distilled for 3.5 hours.
The correct length of time for distilling cypress is 24 hours to get the full 280 properties.
If you want Cypress to do the job it is intended to do, you MUST get ALL 280 constituents, no more, no less. Most people just do not realize essential oils have chemical properties in them and in order to get the full benefit out of that particular oil it has to be grown, harvested, and distilled the correct way or the oil has no benefit to us.

I chose Young Living because of this process, after weeks of research. I started using oils when my son was just 3 months old, and I took a lot of time choosing what I put into my body during my pregnancy, during my labor and delivery, and after he was born. It only made sense to take the same care with the essential oils I chose to use to support his health and wellness (and my whole family’s) and to make sure I wasn’t introducing any additives, synthetics, or other toxins into our bodies.

But Young Living is more expensive, right? You’re right, often times it is and “you get what you pay for” has never been more true. Young Living is more expensive than other brands and oils you can find at Whole Foods or on Amazon because of its therapeutic grade. An ever-growing number of marketers have jumped on the essential oils bandwagon looking for an easy way to make a lot of money. Most of these oils are cheap imitations, purchased wholesale in large quantities, diluted with synthetic additives, and rebottled before being sold to you.

That’s not okay for us. We want the best for our families and we don’t want to “save money” short-term only to spend more long-term because we used something that didn’t do what it was supposed to or even harmed us.
Some of the other companies may claim that their oils are organic. Unfortunately, the term “organic” is not regulated by the FDA in regards to essential oils. They do not certify or grade essential oils so any oil you see making those claims is simply using the word. They did not have to do anything to earn it.
If you cannot walk onto your oil company's farms and watch them distill their oils at their very own distilleries, then don't use it.
There’s a reason Young Living has been the world leader in essential oils for 22 years!

Here's an amazing example:
At convention, they let us know that the week before, Young Living rejected 7,000 kilos of Peppermint because it did not meet our standards. Their state of the art machinery detected one part per billion of mercury in the batch, and sent it right back. For reference, that's equivalent to one drop in an Olympic-sized swimming pool💧

The cost to our company was NOT a factor in the decision. The fact that it had the potential to throw a very crucial and popular oil out of stock did NOT factor into the decision. If it doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't get sold. Period.

Wonder what company bought that rejected oil?😐

We run 15-20 tests on each oil.
Twice.
And we have outside labs who test for us again. They are the same labs that the FBI and Scotland Yards use. YUP.

We are the only company who has our own Isotope Ratio Mass Specrometey (IRMS) machine. Actually, we have two. Scientists are trained for TWO YEARS to use it.

We measure the amount of carbon isotope ratios in the oils to make sure it matches the CIR in the atmosphere...because our plants get their oils from the atmosphere. So it needs to be the same. Duh. Synthetic oils don't match the atmosphere. And guess what? We don't have any of those 😉🙌🏻

So next time someone says Seed to Seal is just a name, think again. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Did you know that when you buy ANY other brand of essential oils that they are buying their oils from any farmer that is the lowest bidder?

That NO ONE besides Young Living has control of the plant from the time it’s a seed to the time it’s bottled?

By employing our Seed to Seal standards on our corporate owned farms, partner farms, and seed to seal suppliers, we ensure that NO ONE has more potent or more pure oils.

By managing our own crops is that it enables us to carefully measure plant metabolism as we approach harvest time on our farms.

We do this by regularly sampling and measuring the BRIX values of the plants.

BRIX is a measure of the sugar level in the plants, which is indicative of plant metabolism (when plants photosynthesize, they store the energy from the sun as sugar).

We then harvest our plants at the peak of their metabolic processes, which ensures that they are producing the most and best oil of their lifecycles.

You CAN NOT do this if you don’t have access to the plants on your own farms.

Young Living also owns two Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers. In order to operate this instrument, it is required their scientists go thru two years of intensive training. This machine measures the ratios of isotopes.
Young Living is the ONLY Essential Oil Company in the world to have this instrument!

At an absolute minimum, YL runs 15 to 20 different tests in triplicate during the initial testing phase to make sure testing is consistent and viable. So that's 45 to 60 total tests.

All these tests are done in the quality control lab. If any of the tests fail, the oils are shipped to the research and development lab with different scientists and different instruments. If R&D fails it -product is disposed.

If the oil passes thru Quality Control it gets bottled and guess what...every single one of the minimum 15 tests are done on the finished product in triplicate.

So each oil is tested a minimum 90 times!

If that is not enough...

Young Living also utilizes a half dozen external expert labs to corroborate the quality.

So next time you see a grocery store product Essential oil, or any other knock off brand company... please understand, you get what you pay for.

🚫Butylene Glycol: found in anti-freeze, brake & hydraulic fluid. It can also be called Propylene Glycol. Skin irritations, weakens skins cellular structure, causes brain, kidney, and liver abnormalities.

🚫Isopropyl Alchohol: may cause premature aging of skin. Also found in anti-freeze. It strips skin of natural acid mantle which promotes growth of bacteria. It can cause headaches, flushed skin, dizziness, nausea & vomiting, & mental depression according to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Cosmetic Ingredients.

🚫Tetrasodium EDTA: contains formaldehyde & a known skin & lung irritant. Breaks down the skins natural barrier which allows higher absorption of toxic ingredients.

🚫BHT: this fragrance has been linked to organ system toxicity & a known skin, eye, & lung irritant.

🚫Disodium EDTA: neurotoxin linked to brain damage & liver changes in animals.

🚫Diazolidinyl Urea: this chemical releases formaldehyde into your body. Mayo Clinic says formaldehyde can irritate the respiratory system, cause skin reactions, trigger heart palpations, immune system toxicity, & cancer in humans. Exposure may cause joint pain, depression, headaches, dizziness, loss of sleep, chronic fatigue, ear infections, allergies, & chest pains. It can also trigger asthma & aggravate colds! 🚫Linalool can cause adverse skin reactions & is used for cockroach insecticide.

🚫Ceterareth-20: ENHANCES the absorption of ALL above chemicals.

Our skin is our largest organ. The ingredients get absorbed into our bloodstream within 26 seconds, & even quicker for kiddos who will absorb up to 50% more than an adult would as their bodies are still growing. Toxic exposures may put a child at higher risk for disease(s) later in life.
