The experience of a ecstatic dance, which has been around for thousands of years, can actually be incredibly beneficial for the mind, body, and spirit. And it happens to be a whole lot of fun.

Ecstatic dance is being used more and more today in a therapeutic setting as well. It can help the dancer let go of emotions, process problems from the perspective of the body and not of the conscious mind and heal the inner child, by giving him or her love and attention through the dance.

Sketches of Spain, recorded in 1959, was arguably the most successful and acclaimed collaboration between Gil Evans and Miles Davis. Featuring legendary songs such as Solea, Will o’ the Wisp, and Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo’s The Concierto de Aranjuez, this record is transcendent both as a timeless piece of music and as a record that “non-jazz-lovers” often have in their collections, as its power to evoke a particular Spanish-tinged mood of reflection is unrivaled. Sketches of Spain is a masterpiece by all measures!!
On Friday, June 3, 2022, in celebration of Miles Davis’ 96th Birthday, Creative Producer Kentyah and the Gil Evans Estate will present a special once-in-a-lifetime performance of this monumental work, featuring jazz and classical music legends such as:
