New Year’s Eve.
End of a long day… I was ready to go home and celebrate… and then the phone rang.

A young man in total desperation—his brows had just been butchered. I didn’t know him… but I stayed.

That’s the night we met.

What started as a last-minute fix turned into a connection that has lasted over 30 years.

I’ve watched him grow, evolve, and transform… but what has never changed is his heart. His passion. His drive. That same beautiful energy that fills a room.

This is what I love most about this industry.
It’s never just about makeup… it’s about people.

Every generation of students surprises me… but the Japanese students truly go beyond expectations.

Each year they arrive more sophisticated, more thoughtful in their work, and more refined in their artistry. Their dedication to learning, attention to detail, and respect for the craft is something that always inspires me as an educator.

Most days Erica Anenberg and Beth Benson are running job sites as contractor and executive with Flip Construction — hard hat, dust, and getting things done.

So when a special occasion comes along, I get the fun assignment of dolling them up just a little. The trick is not doing too much… because they are already naturally beautiful.
