☀️ Summer is here, and it’s giving mermaid vibes! But don’t let your fun in the sun make you forget to protect your hair extensions. Did you know sunscreen is one of the biggest culprits in your extensions turning pink or orange? Sunscreen ingredients like Avobenzone and Octocrylene are known to create a chemical reaction that causes these not so pretty in pink hues in your hair.🫢 Here are some tips to help you protect your extensions this summer: 1. 🌥️Avoid sunscreens that have Avobenzone and Octocrylene and instead opt for a mineral based sunscreen. 2. ⛅️Before applying your sunscreen, tie your hair in a high pony or bun and wash the palms of your hands before touching your hair again. 3. 🌤️If you plan on wearing your hair down, wait to put down your hair until your sunscreen has completely dried to avoid your hair rubbing the sunscreen off your back and shoulders. (Same goes for tanning lotions!) 4. ☀️If you do happen to get sunscreen on your hair, don’t panic, we can fix it! Start by getting an extension safe clarifying shampoo, followed by a deep conditioning hair mask. If you still see some unwanted pigments, repeat the process and try a little purple shampoo before applying your hair mask again. 5. 🌞Bonus: Just like your skin, your hair needs UV protection too! Invest in a good heat/UV protectant for your hair.
