Cosmetology program is now 1000 hours instead of 1600 hours
New Hairstylist Program will be offered soon! A 600 hour program. License will only allow you to cut and style hair.
No Practical Exam for all programs. Nails, Esthetics and Cosmetology
You still need to be licensed to practice Nails, Esthetics, Cosmetology or hair cutting/styling
You must take a written exam and pass to get a license.
You must complete all theory and practical requirements.
You must complete program hours
You must attend an approved beauty school in order to take written licensure exam for all programs.

Hair Salons are finally able to reopen in LA County but Neihule Flagship Salon will not reopen just yet.
Neihule Salon has decided to temporarily relocate to our other location located on 8th street in dtla.
Our flagship salon will return to the Olive Street location in early 2021

Today I post alongside so many others in California asking to be seen and heard by
What should be a busy Saturday in the salon is this desolate space. Today while my business is closed I can go shopping at Target, go have brunch with friends, fly in an airplane, go to the San Diego Zoo, visit the dentist for a routine cleaning, go grocery shopping, furniture shopping, get botox, get a spray tan, go to the beach. I can literally do anything today BUT work. Our industry has not had any outbreaks, likely because of the rigid protocols we follow that mimic visiting a doctors office. In fact, there is that incredible story out of Missouri where 2 stylists were unknowingly infected with coronavirus and saw 140 clients but NO ONE got infected! Likely because of the required masks and sanitizing protocols I assume.
Thank you for attempting a solution with the work outside option. Unfortunately that option is not practical, safe or hygienic for the type of work we do. I’m shocked and saddened to see how hard my peers have worked to create a safe work space indoors only to be thrown out on the street under an Easy Up in 80+ degree heat while wearing a mask for 8+ hours a day. Here in San Diego over 20 incredibly respected salons have had to close their doors permanently and an estimated 30% of our industry has left all together, likely to find an “essential” job. Not because we’ve had outbreaks, not because hair color has been linked to coronavirus, not because we are breaking rules but because you solely believe we should be closed indefinitely. Our industry is down on its knees, broken in tears asking for answers.
