October appointments are now available in North Hollywood and are dwindling fast! Now’s the time to treat and protect your curls after the salt and chlorine of the pool and the rays from the sun. Maintenance your ends and get treatments your curls need to look their best.

We’ve found a new cozy spot to continue caring for your curls. Now located in suite 110 at the Phenix Salon Suites in NoHo West. Sitting just off the Oxnard exit on off the 170, this space is a lot easier to get to and surrounded by shops like Nordstrom Rack, Daiso, as well as great eats. You can even swing by Ulta to restock all your products after your appointment!

The language that develops as a result of the curl typing system isn’t helpful, it’s harmful. It perpetuates misinformation about curly hair.

People are experiencing massive, heartbreaking hair loss as a result of it. This impacts their lives: job opportunities, relationships, experiences, self-esteem and confidence.

I’m sharing this with you from not only professional experience but direct personal as well.

I cannot say for certain but in an unofficial polling of my clients it feels like 1 in 3 I’m referring out to my dermatologist to have their scalp evaluated for hair loss and other concerning scalp conditions. (s/o to .obioha .dermatology if you’re looking for an incredible Black derm in the LA area!) Many of which could’ve been avoided if we were taught better haircare hygiene practices.

Misinformation spread as a result of the typing chart in combination with YouTube really did a number on a lot of us.
Now we have major, global brands attempting to educate professional stylists to NOT use shampoo on those with “type 4 hair” except for once every 4 months!! I wish I could tell you I was kidding but this is what I was shown as recently as 2020 when I was attending cosmetology school. (Then the teaching stylist told professionals globally to “check out YouTube for a ton more curly haircare information” and when I tell you my heart SUNK.)

And I’ll continue to spread this awareness until the end of my career. I’d like to say until it goes away but as it’s now becoming legitimatized by major brands it’s going to be a while before we can dismantle and abolish it.

Don’t worry - I’m *genuinely* as surprised as you are. I was just sharing that I’d be closing up my salon suite space without knowing how long it would be before I’d be back up and running. Well I guess the universe wasn’t happy with that as a resolution. So, to my surprise, I’m excited to share that my schedule is officially open for August appointments.

New clients are welcome as always!

We’ll be working out of our new (temporary) salon suite space all through this month and September. What happens after September? Stay tuned - you might just be as surprised as I am again! 🥰💜✨

A lot has happened this year so far. How about y’all? I feel like with each passing year we find ourselves saying the most recent chunk of time just kicked our asses but then the next set of months kick in and we somehow manage to find more openness for whatever life throws at us. I’m personally ready for a breather.

I’ll be sharing a lot more soon including more about getting to know me, my hair history, how I got to here, and what the plans are for the future.

August marks two years I’ve worked behind the chair in my very own salon suite, sharing curly haircare education, haircuts, and color. Which is definitely a milestone to celebrate!

That’s why it’s with a heavy heart that I announce that our Burbank studio will close as of August 1st, 2024.

All remaining available appointments between now and our last days in the suite in Burbank can be booked now.

Indefinitely doesn’t have to mean forever. Our lease is up! And sadly, for various reasons, I’m no longer comfortable supporting the salon suite company that we’ve been operating within. So until I find a space that sustainably fits the needs of the salon I envision for our curl learning & healing, I’ll be taking a hiatus on in-person services.

Burbank, it has been my absolute pleasure to serve your curls. 💜✨

After only her first appointment this incredible Monarch 🦋has graduated to Dry Cuts! This low density, fine strand tight curly credits her detailed, defined results to sticking with the plan! She followed the home care instructions exactly and kept focused with her practice. For this curly, I was able to cut her on her very own wash & go set, taking the ends of her hair that was making her look stringy & flat, and giving her set intentional shape. Instead of spending the time of going through bowl work we spent more of it chatting & catching up. We had a wonderful time. And for me as a professional, knowing that she drives quite a distance to see me, I’m so proud of her dedication 🥰
