šŸŽ€ MAC COSMETICS ā€˜SNOB’ MAKEUP RECREATION 🩰

I’ve heard some MUAs and influencers talk about not recreating other people’s looks - and even worse; not looking at visual inspiration. And while I think that can be helpful at times of oversaturation/stimulation, ultimately, on a day-to-day basis, as a beginner and even seasoned artist, pulling reference and learning through recreation is one of the best ways to develop your skill.

Don’t allow other people’s egos keep you from tapping into your creativity, no matter how it appears. Just do it. Copy the thing. Keep copying until you develop your own style.

In art school, we created ā€œmaster copiesā€ which allowed us to learn specific techniques that might otherwise feel dull or not fully integrated by simply attending a lecture or just gazing at an image. Mimicking the strokes programs it into the body and with that, perception changes - and we continue innovating upon what we unlocked, because naturally, we desire to evolve. We continue building greater and more personal styles with our expanded arsenal of tools and mindsets.

Recreation for me is about continuing to develop my creativity. Sometimes, being creative feels exhausting. Sometimes, it doesn’t feel inspiring to conjur up a new look, but recreating a look *does*. I think of it like wardrobe: we want to wear something beautiful, have it reflect our mood, build our confidence, but we don’t sew or design a new outfit every time we put on clothes. Makeup can be like that for me. I love to look at images as templates and select the template that feels that best for that given day.

Love how this turned out even though the lip was a bit chaotic and doesn’t perfectly match the original look, I’m rolling with it / like the color. That was my way of building upon the look and making it more personal.

šŸŽ€ Monochromatic BB Pink Makeup Tutorial 🩰

This look is simple, but contains many subtle layers giving it more dimension.

For the eyes, I took the lightest matte pink shade from the midnight palette, swept it all over the eyelid up to the brow with a dense fluffy brush, and layered that same shade about four times with increasing saturation, creating a gradient from least saturated at the brow bone down to most saturated at the eyelid.

For the lips, the same concept. First layer: .global glow tint in 18 winter all over the lips (deep cool tone pink) . Let set for 10-15 mins, blot off with a tissue. Then lined the lips with lip stain in ā€˜p-inked’ - set for 5 mins, peel off. Then finished it with the most beautiful light pink frost lipstick by in ā€˜Candy’ - Thank you to my editorial makeup advert queen for recommending! šŸ’— Can’t wait to do a swatch and review of this.

Blush; same concept. Layered colors and finishes giving it depth and dimension. baked blush in petal primavera, .global last blush in 05 lavender overtop, and finished it off with highlighter in ā€˜star surfer’ the prettiest champagne pink.

Here’s a full list of all the products used to create the look. If you’d like to shop these items, they’re in a post in my ShopMy at the linktree in my bio.

For the month of March, I’ve submersed myself in a pink cloud. Nearly everyday I’ve worn a different pink makeup look, tweaking slightly with warmer and cooler shades to give nuance and dimension.

I’m thinking to start a new series. Would you like to see pictures of looks with a breakdown of the products used to create it? (Like in this here post? No instruction, no vid. This type of post is aimed more for the seasoned makeup enthusiast who just wants to know what was used.

Here’s my first go at a pictorial / product list post. If you dig it, I’ll keep doin’ it!

OR šŸ—£ļø Do you prefer instruction? Silent vids with quick clips showing products?

As usual, all products mentioned can be purchased through a ShopMy post at the linktree in my bio, if you so desire. Just look for this exact post and products are all linked in tharrr. It’s there if you want to shop or just look at the products. Zero pressure forever, a service to you.

It’s New Year’s Eve, and instead of going out and raging, I’ll take the opportunity to introduce myself.

Hello. My name is Dara. I’m an artist and designer and now content creator. Thank you for being here and following me on this public journey/humiliation ritual of growing my skills as a makeup artist and video editor and sharing it online.

Just this month, December 2025, I closed my floral design business of 14 years, .

This was not a decision reached easily, nay. Rather one fraught with agonizing indecision for literally the past five years.

You see, I began my floral design career - an incredible blessing bestowed upon me at the age of 14 in small ol’ little town Hudson of New Hampshire.

I worked my ass off since 1999 to create what I have created. That’s 26 years of floral designing in an unbelievably diverse array of settings, from grocery store floral departments in the Midwest, to hauling my ass out to LA to work the industries top designers. And that I did.

I designed for all of Rodeo’s most prominent luxury houses, erected events bedecked with the finest florals available to mankind for Hollywood’s elite, and started my own business designing for celebrities in their homes on a weekly and monthly basis, and offered my services to the public, to whomever wanted to support my vision of bringing heaven to earth through the medium of florals.

After accomplishing some major bucket list wishes, I felt a gnawing sense of disappointment that I always feel is beautifully depicted by that scene in Soul where the main character finally starts playing with a live Jazz band, and after the show, he feels a sense of emptiness, almost sadness. Not only did I feel that, I also felt irreplenishably exhausted. I didn’t want the risk of giving half of my vision and business to an investor, but I simply couldn’t continue carrying on the insane amount of physical and creative work as a solo designer. So, I took my sign of eternal burnout as my sign to close it down. More in captions ā¬‡ļø

HALLOWEEN 2014 āœšŸ» fall 2000 for

It seems this was the fateful date I’d decide that recreating editorial and runway makeup would be my Halloween theme every year.

I didn’t know then that ten years later in 2024 I’d quit the thriving business I built doing flowers for celebrities to pursue my love of makeup full time.

This past year has been such a blast diving deep into the world of makeup like never before. I can’t wait to see how it continues to evolve and unfold.

Thank you for being here with me in the pursuit of beauty and treasures! šŸ–¤

I couldn’t find who the lead makeup artist was on this show but was mentioned in some sources to have worked on previous shows with them. Please comment if you know!
