So I recently rewatched Crimson Peak and that inspired this, if you haven’t seen the movie it’s a red clay bubbling up from under the snow which was so dynamic looking in the movie.

My little backstory for this is that the mimic was part of a cursed hoard buried beneath a battlefield where soldiers froze to death. The treasure chest was never claimed, awoke haunted by the frozen souls left behind, waiting for its next victim. The lid creaked open for anyone who dug through the snow. A traveler who stumbled upon it thought it was a forgotten fortune. He never saw the teeth until it was too late. The bones of past victims shift and crawl, dragging themselves across the frozen ground to try to escape purgatory. The mimic waits for the next greedy traveler. Leaving behind only a thin veil of snow, over churned earth, broken bones, and frozen blood.

Mimic- I used using various browns, orange, taupe, and contrast paints to make a weathered water damaged wood. On the metal I used a chrome and then used another citadel teal to do some patina. Then using Dirty Down rust to add that nice age on it.

Base- Built up with some cork, many different tiny rocks, some clear rocks as well. Then based in red adding white, gray dry brushing, then snow over top. Adding the red skeleton parts, topping everything off with a homebrew mix for the blood.

Kombucha (2025) Work sucks, then you die

Trapped in a trendy startup, an aspiring musician thinks the free break room kombucha is a perk, until it begins to change him. What starts with suspicious smiles and team-building ends in a bile-drenched metamorphosis.

I had an amazing time heading back home to Chicago for a month and getting to department head spfx makeup for this project. The crew was fantastic and it was overall a great experience.

The guys all bloodied up for the death scene.

The makeup progression for the death scene of Ramon Novarro

1. We started with some aging using stipple (forgot to record this part) then used a mix of Paradise paint in white to run thru the hair and some to do the facial hair.
2. Moved to after the initial punch to the face we added a split lip and a broken nose using as well as some start of blood pooling under the skin, and a nose bleed.
3. Added a larger swelling spot to the cheek and some blood coming from the head as well as punching up other parts more nose bleeding
4. The final look had the swollen eye more cuts and blood pooling.
