Sometimes change doesn’t have to be.. dramatic! That’s something I have to remind myself of! I love my occasional brunette balayages because they keeps me on my toes!
When I took these pics I couldn’t look at the difference from her previous color, I was feeling defeated and telling myself “ oh my god she’s not going to like it, what did I do, I toned it too dark, etc etc “ BECAUSE.. my eye is so used to looking for that bright blonde result. I took a look at them again this morning and completely fell in love with them lol, and so did my client! This was a reminder to myself that sometimes I need to shut up and not be so hard on myself, or just take a break from looking at the pictures and come back to them later haha.

Beautiful color, very fun, BUT it can definitely be high maintenance! Specially if you want to keep it fresh and bright. The maintenance is nothing too crazy, however if you’d consider yourself a minimalist when it comes to hair care, then this color may not be for you. A few things to consider when wanting to go red: Are you ready for cold showers? Lol and red hands? Red hair THRIVES when it’s washed in cold or Luke warm water, if you aren’t willing to do that, then red isn’t for you. And I know what you’re telling yourself “ hot water isn’t all that bad, their exaggerating 🙄” girl.. that was me all during high school, with that exact mindset, I look at pics now and my hair was orange and ugly lol 😭! Fast forward to my ginger stage two years ago and I used cold water when washing my hair, my color lasted a lot longer.
Consider red shampoos, or pigmented conditioners! That will prolong the life of your color and push out 1 or 2 toning appointments. consistent touch ups if your red is to the root, or consistent toning when you have a rooted red look. This color fades fast, so consistent toning is a must!
Red is fun, flirty , HOT! But if you aren’t going to keep up with the maintenance of it, you’ll be lookin like a hot mess 😭! Just keeping it real here! Nonetheless, if you want to go red, go red girl, live your red head era, but consider the maintenance :)

I’m sure as you all might’ve already assumed.. Morgan James salon has MOVED! We had been at the previous spot for 5 years and prior to it being Morgan James, it was sanctuary salon which was there for over 20 years!
The place was beautiful and spacious, however, our group is small and close, we weren’t making much use of the space as time went on, so we made the decision to move!
Our new spot is much more intimate, beautiful, and better suited for all of us! It is located in Sunnyvale, in a building named salon republic. Updated address is on my bio! Cannot wait for you guys to see it!

Wanted to introduce Ms. Scarlette Marina 🤍! She Made her appearance Tuesday afternoon, coming in at 7lbs and a fart machine already! Mamma is already so tired but oh so worth it! As much as I miss doing hair, I’ll be spending some time with this little gal of mine for the time being. I won’t be gone toooo long though 😉!

Interrupting your regular hair broadcasting content with something a little more personal! This past weekend was my baby shower for thee arrival of little miss thang that’s cookin and brewin! This was such a memorable day with those who I truly love and appreciate! I cannot WAIT for this little girl to be here so I can eat her chunky feet and smell her every single day, and squish her, and just be overall obsessed with her!! she still has some time until she gets here, which means I will still be at the salon until pretty much she decides to come lol! Drooling 🤤! She literally had the perfect hair for this look! And with this tone of hair, first thing we think of to maintain it or keep it icy is… PURPLE SHAMPOO! Which is definitely a huge help! However, it’s not to be used every.single.day. As great as purple shampoo is to maintain my icy gals and keep away yellow, it also can work as a negative if used to often for to long. Purple is meant to get rid of yellow, yellow brings brightness, purple mutes brightness. If you over use your purple shampoo, your icy hair can go from looking BRIGHT and COOL to just dull and grey. We need to find a balance! So what I’ve recommended to my clients who are icy, is to only use the purple shampoo when you see yellow, and only leave it on for a few moments. As much as I like fanola purple shampoo, it is very strong! I’d recommend the untie purple shampoo! It smells great and it kicks just the right amount of yellow out without dulling the hair.

More pics to come, because when you have a friend this gorg we just had to take advantage! We did the WORKS on her hair! however I did want to point out, notice how much the look comes together by bringing up those two pieces that frame her face? ( usually what we refer to as the money piece) although we did more than just bring up her money piece, for someone who has their blonde grown out but doesn’t want to go through the WHOLE process, if you were to simply come in for a maintenance which entails minimum foil work plus the money piece, it can LITERALLY enhance the look so much more in LESS time.
